Barcia Blue Boy Back At Bulli Tonight

By TheDogs News Desk
The sparingly raced Barcia Blue Boy resumes from a break at Bulli tonight and will start a very short-priced elect for the eighth time in as many starts.

Injury has restricted the son of Barcia Bale’s appearances, yet his high speed is writ large.

“He broke a metacarpal as a pup and has subsequently re-injured it twice which, each time, required surgery,” trainer Peter Lagogiane said.

The two-time Million Dollar Chase winning trainer has been frustrated by the ongoing soreness but there is no quick solution.

“It’s a maintenance issue now, we just go from day-to-day and start to start,” he lamented.

“He’s the sort of dog which should be chasing the country cups in Victoria but it’s just difficult to plan ahead as another significant issue would be devastating.”

Barcia Blue Boy has started an odds-on elect in six of seven outings and is unbeaten in two Bulli 400m assignments.

His 22.16s win on debut at Bulli (at start three) on June 6 last year was the sixth fastest time record at the Slacky Flat circuit in 2020. Subsequently, he posted cracking 24.97s and 29.80s wins at Maitland and Wentworth Park respectively.

On face value, Barcia Blue Boy should have no trouble adding to his already impressive resume yet, on latest Wentworth Park offerings, but Candy Carrera (box seven) may prove to be the testing material.

She’s adept from a wide alley, latest box manners have been very reliable and will be strong to the line.
