The Collerson Stakes

Simon Set For A Wenty Consolation

By Jeff Collerson
Simon Told Helen, who missed the jump when third to Zulu Warlord and Fire Legend in his heat of the group 1 Ladbrokes Paws Of Thunder at Wentworth Park last Saturday night, will chase a consolation victory in this Saturday's The Collerson.

Since 2006, greyhounds which have missed qualifying for the Paws Of Thunder, have been given priority for a draw in this listed race and trainer David Burnett had no hesitation in entering the event.

"Due to border restriction protocol I was unable to handle Simon Told Helen last week but it's a different scenario this Saturday and I am hoping to be presented with the winner's cheque at Wenty,'' Burnett said.

"I was happy with Simon Told Helen's run in his heat because you can't afford to miss the kick from box eight in a group 1 race like he did.

"After his poor getaway Simon Told Helen could not get around Fire Legend, who was running second and chasing the pacemaker Zulu Warlord, yet he was beaten only two lengths.

"He is a lot better off from box three this week than he was from the eight alley in his Thunder heat.''
