GOLD MUZZLE SALES RELEASE THEIR 2021 CALENDAR OF EVENTS

Gold Muzzle Sales & Syndications Pty. Ltd. (formerly Gold Muzzle Auctions) has today released their calendar of Sales and Auctions for 2021 with four major Sales events scheduled for the new year.

Their premier Sales event, the 2021 Gold Muzzle National Puppy Sale, will be staged on Sunday, June 20 at Richmond Racetrack and will be limited to a maximum of 150 pups.

This is the Sale that G1 winning sprinter Flying Ricciardo was purchased from in 2019 for just $7,500 and is open to greyhounds whelped between June 1, 2020 and January 31, 2021 – Nominations for the 2021 National Puppy Sale will open on Monday, December 21 (all details are available at www.goldmuzzle.com.au).

Greyhounds purchased or bought-back at the National Puppy Sale will then be eligible to compete in the 2022 Gold Muzzle Race Series with the primary event at Wentworth Park offering a $40,000 first prize while the secondary series will be held at Richmond over 400m where the final winner will earn connections $6,000.

Following demand from their clients, on the same day, Gold Muzzle Sales will also stage the 2021 WINTER Ready-to-Race Sale which will be limited to just 20 greyhounds.

This Sale is open to Unraced, Maiden and Performed greyhounds of any age, with greyhounds to trial publicly on the day at Richmond before being sold later that afternoon.

Other Sales on the calendar for 2021 include the Spring Ready-to-Race Sale in October and the Summer Puppy Sale which is slated for December.

Mark Duclos, Managing Director of Gold Muzzle Sales & Syndications, said the postponement of the Puppy Auction this year due to the Covid pandemic allowed them to conduct market research and come up with a strategy which would satisfy anyone looking to purchase a greyhound.

“The initial Gold Muzzle Puppy Sale in 2019 was an outstanding success with a number of new participants purchasing greyhounds and entering the industry and we have since formulated a strategy and calendar of events which ensures we can accommodate the on-going demand from our clients,” Duclos said.

“By staging both Puppy and Ready-to-Race Sales we are confident we can provide the perfect avenue for current and prospective participants to be a part of the racing code which is the most affordable when it comes to racing a winner.”

Greyhound Racing NSW has again thrown their support behind Gold Muzzle Sales & Syndications, and Chief Executive Officer Tony Mestrov said with the industry experiencing record levels of wagering, now was the perfect time to target these punters to hopefully turn them into active participants.

“We are delighted to again partner with Gold Muzzle Sales & Syndications and the success of the 2019 Puppy Auction and subsequently those greyhounds who were purchased from that Auction, has been a vote of confidence for our industry moving forward,” Mestrov said.

Despite all of its challenges, 2020 has been a breakout year for the NSW Greyhound Racing industry and we firmly believe that these Sales and Auction events are a great marketing and promotions tool for so many sectors of our industry from Breeders to Rearers, Breaking-In establishments and of course Trainers.”

Chief Operating Officer of GRNSW, Wayne Billett, also believes the introduction of the Ready-to-Race Sales will be an outstanding success.

“While buying a puppy gives you the chance to buy a potential champion at a small price, we constantly receive enquiries from people looking to buy a greyhound that is currently racing, and this will provide them with the opportunity to basically buy a greyhound one day and see it racing the next week,” Billett said.

The oldest greyhounds sold at the 2019 Gold Muzzle Puppy Auction are now just 2 ½ years of age but they have certainly made their impact felt on the track, and from the 104 pups sold, 67 have made their racetrack debuts.

There have been 52 individual winners from that crop yielding an amazing 77.61% winners-to-starters ratio; those greyhounds have won 195 races to date; and prizemoney earnings has now surpassed more than $608,000.
