Top Line-Up for Sportsbet Dapto Middle Distance Final

By thedogs.com.au
Next Thursday’s $25,000 to the winner Sportsbet Dapto Middle Distance Championship final looms as an intriguing affair following two very different heats of the event.

On paper there appeared to be four distinct chances in the opening heat, and all four managed to advance to the final albeit not the way most punters expected.

The Peter Sims-trained Second Exit – the third elect in the market who was having her first start at Dapto in 10 months - stalked the leader Ritza Donald from boxrise, then powered to the lead on the turn out of the back and went on to win in 34.36s.

The run of runner-up Stanley Road was not missed by anyone, running home strongly from fourth to grab second placing, ahead of favourite Incapacitated, with Ritza Donald also advancing to the final in fourth place.

But the second heat was a wipeout for punter, with $42 chance Silver Heels spearing to the lead at the start and staving off all challengers to win in 34.60s.

Winlock On Top ran home well for second, 2½ lengths away, with Zipping Truvy third and the consistent Prim And Proper also grabbing a finals’ berth by finishing fourth.

The box draw for the Sportsbet Dapto Middle Distance Championship Final was conducted after the heats with the two heat winners drawing boxes one and two.
