Nowra's Ladbrokes Puppy Sprint Classic Nears

By thedogs.com.au
The Nowra Summer and Spring Puppy Classics were an institution at the Pinebowl dating back to 2003, but in recent years the two Group 3 events have become one, the Group 3 Summer Classic, usually held in March/April each year.
With the support of Ladbrokes, Nowra have given the young ‘Puppy’ sprinters, a classic of their own over 365m, with a cool $5,000 to the winner, a presentation rug and trophy.
The race is an age classic and all graded greyhounds (maidens not eligible) whelped after the July 1, 2018 are eligible to come and race for the rich prize.
Last year’s winner Cumbria Belle for Falls Creek trainer Steve Fitch showed great pace to lead from the back straight and prove too good from a smart field of youngsters.

Cumbria Belle has gone on to better things with multiple Wentworth Park wins to her credit, continuing the tradition of all greyhounds making the final of Nowra Puppy Classics over the years, have progressed to higher honors with that bit of maturity.
The Ladbrokes Puppy Sprint heats will be held on Sunday, November 22, with the $5,000 to winner final on Saturday, November 28.
Nominations for all Nowra weekend meetings close the Wednesday prior at 9.00am.
The Greyhound Racing NSW Middle Distance Bonus race will also highlight night of the Puppy Sprint final on November 28, with a 630m top grade offering $5,000 to the winner event.
And a note to all participants that Nowra pays $60 travel subsidy for EVERY runner at our meetings until further notice, so head to the Pinebowl, and you’ll collect the cash every time you turn up.
