Unreal Drop In Class Really Suits

By Jeff Collerson
Really Unreal has been unplaced in her past five Wentworth Park 720m races but a sharp drop in class and a suitable draw can put the John Finn-trained bitch back in the winner's circle on Saturday night.

Really Unreal has box six in the fourth and fifth grade Now Booking The Chase Lounge Stakes and Finn's wife Melinda said: "I reckon she goes better when she is drawn out wide.

"And her latest run, when she finished third to her kennelmate Waging War over 618m at Richmond on October 23, was a good effort.

"She had box eight that night and got to the line strongly, so the extra distance at Wenty will suit her.''

Really Unreal has won 15 races but has lived in the shadow of her famous half siblings Blue Moon Rising, Poco Dorado and Veloce Nero, all big race winning stayers, throughout her career.

At Richmond late last month Really Unreal was giving the leaders 10 lengths' start in the middle stages and wound up less than four lengths behind the winner, Waging War.

In August she had box six in a Wentworth Park 720m event and was a close runner-up to champion stayer Blue Moon Rising, while her fourths at her past two long-distance runs there on October 3 and 9, were against far tougher opposition than she meets on Saturday night.

"Show Me Confetti, who has box one, will be hard to beat but it looks a winnable race,'' Melinda Finn said.

Slick front-runner Zambora Zipper resumes from a spell in Saturday night's Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes but trainer Peter Lagogiane said the dog is ready to go well ''first-up''.

"Zambora Zipper has not raced for six weeks but there was nothing major wrong with him, all he had was a wart on a toe,'' Lagogiane said.

"I had to ease him up while that was treated but he had a hit-out at Wenty Park on Tuesday night and went pretty well.

"I am happy with him going into Saturday's race.''

Zambora Zipper has displayed a liking for Wentworth Park where he has had seven starts for two wins, two seconds and two thirds.

Sniffy, who will be at good odds in Saturday's Sponsor A Race At Wenty Stakes, is "getting close to a win'' according to trainer Michael Hooper.

"When she finished second to All Star Punk at Wentworth Park last Saturday night she was checked at the first turn and was last going through the pen,'' Hooper said.

"It's been frustrating watching her because she is going well but having no luck.

"Box four on Saturday is no help but the draw may be better than it seems, because Carson Bale, who has box three, will be on the fence in a flash and Mercator Bell, who has drawn five, usually stays wide.

"Sleek Defier, who finished behind Sniffy last Saturday, came out and won at Gosford on Tuesday so the form around her is good.''

Saturday's best bet should be Stanley Road, who is well positioned in box two in the 520m Go The Blues Stakes and whose quickest Wentworth Park time of 29.80 is two lengths' quicker than the personal best of any of his rivals.

Stanley Road has won five of his 11 starts but his Wentworth Park record is an outstanding three wins and a third from just four appearances.
