City Prizemoney For Middle Distance Racing Begins This Week

By GRNSW
Owners and Trainers are reminded that this week signals the commencement of the distribution of city prizemoney for middle distance racing at a number of provincial clubs.

In August, Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) announced a $1.33 million injection of prizemoney into the NSW industry, which included an additional $550,000 to be offered for middle distance racing at provincial clubs.

From October 1, city prizemoney levels of $5,000 a win, $1,500 for second and $1,100 for third for middle distance racing, will be available for one race at these provincial venues, once a week.

This will commence this Thursday, October 1 at Dapto, and will also be available at Richmond on Friday, October 2 and LADBROKES GARDENS on Saturday, October 3.

The Dapto event will be a Best 8, 5th Grade event with nominations closing on Monday morning, the Richmond event is a 4/5th Grade event with nominations closing on Tuesday, and LADBROKES GARDENS have a Non Grade Best 8 programmed.

The reasoning behind having city prizemoney at provincial clubs for these events is to help nurture middle distances greyhounds and provide them with a viable stepping stone to ultimately bolster the State’s 700m ranks, and with no 600m start at Wentworth Park, this was decided to be the best alternative.
