Patience And Perseverance Pays Off For Fay

My Real Deal's win over 400m at Maitland on Monday may have only been in a moderate 23.13s, but the four-year-old's victory was the result of a remarkable training performance by East Maitland's Fay Trowbridge.

My Real Deal was having his first start for over two years, with his previous race at Shepparton way back on June 21, 2018, just shy of 800 days earlier.

"My Real Deal won three of nine races for us while being trained in Victoria but had severe stopper bone injuries which curtailed his career,” Fay Trowbridge's husband Noel said.

"We brought him home and Fay worked over-time to get him right again, she deserves all the credit because she has not stopped working on the dog's injuries.

"She is also trying to bring back Gentle Giant, who dropped a hind leg muscle three times when he was racing in Victoria, where he won 18 of 32 races.''

Noel Trowbridge, 78, who is mostly confined to a wheel chair these days, rates Hail The Champ, who won 16 of 31 starts in 1995 and '96, as the best greyhound he and Fay have trained in their 32 years in the sport.
