Be Gifted Fresh And Ready To Go

By Jeff Collerson
Be Gifted has not raced for six weeks but the speedy bitch from the bush is "ready to go'' at Wentworth Park tonight according to trainer Peter Sims.

Be Gifted has box three in race five, a 520m fifth grade, and Sims expects her to lead around the all important first turn.

"While she is not strong at the end of 520m, Be Gifted has won three of her eight starts by getting out quickly and then being off and gone,'' Sims said.

"I gave her a post-to-post slip at Wenty and she clocked 24.28, which everyone tells me is very good.

"Be Gifted holds the first split record at our local Wagga track so I think they are going to have to run her down.''

Sims also has Revelstone in box two in race seven, a 520m fifth grade, along with his fine money-spinners Canya Star (box one) and Second Exit (five) in the 520m Free-For-All.

"Revelstone had won five of six races before he finished fourth, from box eight, at Wenty on July 22, and I'm happier seeing him drawn near the rails this week,'' Sims said.

"But I have a big opinion of his rival Whitfield, who has box eight and has had five wins and a second from six starts at the provincials.

"Between them Canya Star and Second Exit have won 27 races and although Wow looks well positioned in box eight against them, my pair are also drawn okay.

"Canya Star will make full use of box one while Second Exit is suited by having an empty box on her outside.

"There is nothing between my pair in ability, but Canya Star has a bit more early zip.''

Most intriguing clash tonight looms as the meeting of Freaky Tears (box two) and Gone By Noon (four) in race four, a 520m fifth grade.

Freaky Tears led throughout to win in a scorching 29.52 at LADBROKES GARDENS on July 17 while Gone By Noon wasn't headed in recording a sizzling 29.68 at Dapto last Thursday night.

Gone By Noon's trainer Charlie Riccio said: "She is a very fast bitch and just needs a bit of luck in the first 20 metres.

"I gave her a boxt-to-box trial at Dapto recently and they don't come home any faster than Gone By Noon did in that hit-out.''

Freaky Tears was entered for Sunday's washed-out Richmond meeting but trainer Chris Perry does not believe that cancellation will affect his bitch's prospects at Wentworth Park.

"With all the wet weather I think we have all been inconvenienced in some way and missing Sunday's race should not worry Freaky Tears as she is very strong at the finish of 520m,'' Perry said.

"She is well positioned near the rails and I have a big opinion of her.''

Zipping Rambo, who posted a sensational 29.36 winning at LADBROKES GARDENS last Friday, makes his city debut in race three, a 520m fifth grade.

"He knows his way around Wenty because he has had a few trials there,'' trainer Jason Mackay said.

"All things being equal Zipping Rambo will be hard to beat but he is still working out what racing is all about because he missed the kick at LADBROKES GARDENS.

"But he is an honest little dog and is nice and strong at the finish of his races.''
