The Paul Dalton prepared Shamal has entered the record books today as the first winner of a TAB meeting staged at the Taree race track.
Well in commission at a quote of $4.60, the daughter of Sulzanti and Olivia’s Ruby began sweetly from Box 7 and was on the speed all the way before eventually pulling away late to score by 1.25 lengths from Sketchy Cohesion and Saint Pablo, with the odds-on favourite, Rosie Doo, rounding out the top 4 placings.
The win took Shamal’s record to 8 wins and 7 placings from 36 starts and was her second career victory at the mid-north coast circuit after winning her Maiden there in September last year.
While today was an historic one for the Taree club, they will now become a regular feature on the racing calendar after GRNSW allocated the club 26 meetings for the 2020-2021 racing year.
