Blue Moon set to rise for Wenty's return

By Jeff Collerson
Greyhound fans' favourite stayer Blue Moon Rising could be back in action at the reopening meeting of Wentworth Park on June 6.

Melinda Finn, whose husband John trains Blue Moon Rising, said: "There is a 720m event being advertised so if there are sufficient entries to stage the race our dog will be there.

"Blue Moon Rising won his 38th race at Richmond last Friday and he went well because the race was only over 618m and Richmond is probably his least favourite track.

"But of course he was suited by the small field of five.''

Meanwhile Blue Moon Rising's litter sisters, the equally talented Poco Dorado and Veloce Nero, are close to whelping their first litters.

"Both were mated with Collision and Poco Dorado is due to whelp on Friday with Veloce Nero expected to have her pups the following week,'' Melinda Finn said.
