2020 Chief Havoc Cup Cancelled

By GRNSW
The Gunnedah Greyhound Racing Club in conjunction with Greyhound Racing NSW wish to advise today that due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the club’s feature event, the Chief Havoc Cup, will not take place this year.

The time-honoured feature which not only attracts quality greyhounds, but also through visitors to the region for the event, significantly stimulates the local economy, was due to be staged in June, but has now become the latest event forced to be cancelled due to the pandemic.

Whilst these decisions are difficult for the clubs, GRNSW are mindful of the latest warnings from the relevant health authorities and the Government, and ultimately in the current environment, the decision was inevitable.

Today’s announcement follows confirmation yesterday that the Grafton Winter Carnival in July will also not go ahead in 2020, and news on Wednesday that the National Championship which were to be held in Sydney in August, have also been cancelled.

The Gunnedah Club looks forward to continuing to support participants in the region at this current time with ongoing racing opportunities, while assuring that safety and the health of all remains paramount.
