No trainer is in better form than Jason Magri and he should continue on his winning way with boom youngster Zipping Zeek at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.
Magri, who won a double at Wentworth Park on Wednesday with Roused and Zipping Zeek's sister Zipping Miranda, was successful with Zipping Falcon at headquarters last Saturday after taking out the group 1 Paws Of Thunder with King Cratos on January 24.
Zipping Zeek, who has had three wins and a third from four starts, has box one in race three, a 520m fifth grade.
The dog's best Wentworth Park time of 30.05 is much faster than figures posted by any of his rivals on Saturday and Magri is delighted with box one.
"It looks a really good draw for Zipping Zeek because Magic Emgrand, who has box two, while not a wide runner, is still likely to give my dog enough room to get through on the rails,'' Magri said.
Saturday's most intriguing clash comes in race 10, a 280m fourth and fifth grade, where Lately and Caviar Quality meet.
The Sam Sultana-trained Caviar Quality has won a remarkable 30 of 45 races and has clocked a brilliant 16.01sec over the 280m Wentworth Park trip.
Caviar Quality has had three wins and a second from four Wenty appearances while the John Miles-trained Lately won first-up at headquarters on Wednesday night.
On Wednesday Lately dwelt at the start from box four but mustered speed rapidly to lead at the first turn.
He set up a handy lead in the middle stages before fading slightly near the finish to score by a length in 16.13.
"Lately had won seven of 11 provincial races before suffering a minor injury a month ago,'' trainer John Miles said.
"The only work he had leading up to Wednesday's race was a 150m sprint on my track at home.
"Lately seldom wins the start but usually manages to find his way between his opponents to reach the lead.
"He goes into box two on Saturday but seems to handle all boxes the same.
"In his favour is that when he won on Wednesday he had not previously seen Wentworth Park so it was a good effort.''
Saturday night's most open event is the 720m final of the Ladbrokes Monthly Medal, where boom north coast stayer What About It will be out to avenge her odds-on third placing loss in her heat.
What About It was sent out a $1.50 favourite in last Saturday's heat but after beginning fairly from box two, was cut off by the greyhound in four and lost ground sharply.
"If What About It has a weakness it is that she is a bit soft,'' trainer Mick Patterson said.
"When the greyhound in box four headed to the rails What About It was checked but she should not have lost so much ground.
"She found more trouble later when she got back in the field but she ran home solidly to finish third and she pulled up well.
"Obviously I am happy to see her in box one on Saturday.''
