Turbo Thomas coming to town for his 18th

By Michael Cowley

Newly crowned record holder Turbo Thomas will put that record on the line on Wednesday night when he contests a Free-For-All at Wentworth Park.

The Jason Mackay-trained dog will be chasing an 18th successive win when he heads to Wentworth Park, having extended his winning streak to an amazing 17 races, a new Australian TAB track record at LADBROKES GARDENS last Friday afternoon.

Turbo Thomas clocked 22.38s for the 400m trip at LADBROKES GARDENS, just a length outside the four-year-old track record held by Hunter Hummer at 22.32s, and in doing so surpassed the previous best winning streak of 16, held jointly by Fernando Bale and Miss Elly Mint.

Turbo Thomas was a beaten favourite at his first ever start at Richmond back in May, but has since won 17 straight at Maitland, Richmond, Wentworth Park, and LADBROKES GARDENS.

In his only start over the 520m at Wentworth Park he clocked 30.32s after missing the start off the red, then powering through to lead on the first turn.

He has drawn box four on Wednesday and each of his six rivals have posted better times at the Wentworth Park circuit, but it would be a brave punter to bet against the flying Turbo Thomas.
