BUSHFIRE UPDATE

Attention all participants: Update on the major Bushfire situations around the State for greyhound participants.

We have issues in the Wingello area today with the property of participants in the line of fire. This is being monitored closely. Another fire near participants at Canyonleigh is also being monitored closely. These participants have left their homes.

At Nowra this morning, it looks like there has been no loss of property however there is property damage to at least one participant and we have put in place access to a generator and will help with any other needs if required.

Tracks and kennels at Appin, Goulburn, Nowra, Dapto, Richmond, Canberra and Wagga Wagga, will all be open this weekend for anyone who may need to relocate and take shelter with their greyhounds.

Race meetings on Saturday night at Bulli and Wentworth Park went ahead without any issues despite very high temperatures. We did have one trainer affected in getting home, but a solution was found, and the situation was resolved.

The GRNSW Red and Yellow Bushfire Appeal commenced and with four winners at Wentworth Park and one winner at Bulli, and as a result the appeal has kicked off with the first $500 going into the account. The appeal will continue throughout January with $100 added each time either the one dog or the five dog win a race on a NSW TAB track.

Race meetings scheduled for Nowra on Monday and Goulburn on Tuesday are still on, however we will be making more considered decisions as we get nearer to those meetings. We will Update on social media and thedogs.com.au website as information comes to hand.

Please stay safe everyone.
