Sandra and Colin running Riot in the feature races

By Jeff Collerson

In 2012 when Sandra Camden-Bermingham and her husband Colin, a plumber, paid $5000 for a racer named Ready To Riot, they could hardly have imagined the riches they would reap from their purChase.

Ready To Riot was more than handy on the track, winning eight from 26 starts, but as a producer she ranks alongside wonder mothers like Chica Destacada and Solar Pak.

Blue Sky Riot, who was a daughter of Barcia Bale and Ready To Riot, was trained by Anthony Azzopardi and took out the group 1 National Futurity at Wentworth Park in 2018, eventually earning $157,000 in prizemoney.

Then in October 2018 Mystic Riot, also a daughter of Barcia Bale and Ready To Riot, landed the inaugural Million Dollar Chase for the Sandra and Colin, this time coming out of the Sydney kennels of JODIE and Peter Lagogiane.

Mystic Riot amassed $1,057,000 before being retired, and now Whiskey Riot, a son of Ready To Riot and Fernando Bale and trained by Azzopardi, has scored a thrilling photo-finish victory in Friday night's $435,000 to the winner Melbourne Cup.

Between them the above trio whelped by Ready To Riot have earned $1,834,000, so if ever an animal deserved the sobriquet "four legged goldmine'' it must surely be applied to the Camden-Berminghams' $5000 purChase.

Pindari Express' career is back in focus with the popular speedster from Tracey Scruse's backyard at Chifley, near Matraville in the Sydney eastern suburbs, winning brilliantly at Wentworth Park on Friday night.

The three-and-a-half year old veteran of just 29 starts, has now won 17 races and been placed eight times following his runaway six lengths romp over 520m in 29.68sec.

Pindari Express ran home in a blistering 11.56 and was the only winner to break the 30sec barrier on a track which appeared to deteriorate time-wise as racing progressed, due to increasing wind.

"He had box seven on Friday and that was the first time Pindari Express had drawn out wide on a two turn track,'' Scruse said.

"Boxes don't matter so much to him on one bend courses but he definitely wants an outside alley on tighter tracks like Wentworth Park.

"I will get him checked out on Monday and all being well will probably nominate him back to Wenty for either Friday or Saturday's meeting.''

Royal Emgrand, who led throughout to win Friday night's opening heat of November's Wentworth Park maiden series, was produced by a bitch which scored just one minor placing, in a 450m race at Shepparton, from six starts.

Royal Emgrand's dam Intuitiv Emgrand was purChased by Friday's winner's owner-trainer Luke Azzopardi at the Richmond Puppy Auction.

"Because Intuitiv Emgrand was a daughter of Fantasy Royale, I paid big money for her, it was either $9000 or $10,000,'' Azzopardi said.

"Fantasy Royale is a top class producer with her her progeny including Kong, who won 15 of 30 starts, and Leeroy Rogue, a winner of 43 from 70 races.

"Intuitiv Emgrand did inherit plenty of the family talent but she dropped both back leg muscles and was retired without winning a race after she had just half a dozen starts.

"Royal Emgrand is from her first litter, to Shima Bar, whelped in April, 2018.

"Royal Emgrand was well drawn in box two last Friday because he is desperate for the fence.

"He can win this maiden final so long as he draws inside because if he comes up with a wide box he won't be able to match it with other heat winners like JODIE Lord's Ritza Donald and Jason Fletcher's Fantastic Gigi.''
