Dapto Supreme Court decision

GRNSW was on Friday successful in the NSW Supreme Court to continuing racing at Dapto.

The judge has found that the administrator should have access to the books and records and premises to enable greyhound racing to continue.

GRNSW Chief Executive Officer Tony Mestrov said: "This is a great win for Greyhound Racing NSW and vindicates our actions.

“We brought this action to court on behalf of the participants of Greyhound Racing NSW and we are pleased the court has given the green light to continue racing at Dapto.

“The first step will be to retrieve missing computers and hard drives and all other materials that are unaccounted for

Richmond Maiden to Zipping Brady

The Rob Tyler-trained Zipping Brady has taken out this year’s $10,000 to the winner Steeline Riverstone Maiden Final at Richmond.

Driving through to lead from the first turn, the son of Fernando Bale and Pink Bandanna raced away for an effortless win in a slick 30.65s. Littermate Zipping Red was a strong run to finish fourth, just behind placegetters Aristocrat and Memories One, and Tyler is hopeful of bright futures for the pair.

Melbourne Cup heats this Friday

Victoria’s premier event, and the second richest race of the Australian greyhound racing calendar, the TAB Melbourne Cup, gets underway this Friday with heats of the event run at Sandown.

The fields for the heats will be drawn on Tuesday morning and are expected to be available soon after lunchtime.

Several runners had their final hitout in the preludes of the event last Thursday at Sandown, each being a support event to the main show, The Shootout.

And once again it was the Jason Thompson-trained Hooked On Scotch taking out the main prize, storming home to beat Whiskey Riot, with Good Odds Harada third.

Turbo Thomas’ only defeat came at his first start when second in a maiden at Richmond, before moving to Mackay’s kennels where he has won all 12 starts.

Ipswich Cup then retirement for Wise Misty

Just moments after winning the Group 3 Ipswich Gold Cup last Thursday, owner-trainer Craig Hazelgrove announced that Wise Misty would be immediately retired.

Wise Misty led from box 8 in the final, then, after being headed, came again to score by a head over Charming Chaos in 30.40s with Maywyn’s Noice in third in the $75,000 to the winner final.

Wise Misty retires with the impressive record of 71 starts for 33 wins and 17 placings earning $239,000.

Short-priced favourite Fernando Blaster, who equalled the track record in the heats, was slow to jump and lost his chances right there.
