Jamella Jet's retirement to stud in Tasmania is likely to be postponed following the dog's blistering 29.66 win at Wentworth Park on Wednesday night.
Runner-up to Mystic Riot in last year's Million Dollar Chase, Jamella Jet won Wednesday's 520m fifth grade by eight lengths in time that was a mere .02sec outside his personal best, posted on May 4.
The dog's Tasmanian owner David Booth, a committeeman of the Launceston Greyhound Club, is keen for Jamella Jet to have his final race in his home state and then to stand him at stud there.
But after Jamella Jet swept around his rivals to lead on the back straight and bolt in at WP, connections are likely to keep the dog in training here.
Trainer Andrew Crouch said: "Jamella Jet was just three weeks too young for this year's Masters Meteor but will be eligible for the $100,000 to the winner race in 2020.
"So with the dog going as well as ever, we are tempted to keep him going in the hope of contesting the Meteor next year.''

MICK Patterson, who trains a team of seven at Iluka, on the far north coast, landed a winning double at Albion Park on Wednesday but rates one of his beaten division at Lismore last Tuesday as easily the best in his kennel.
Patterson, a 67-year-old retired prawn fisherman who trained the champion all distance performer He Knows Uno, won a brace of 395m races at Albion Park with Justice Done and Dominating.
But it is What About It, who finished second to the highly rated Uno Fabio over 635m at Lismore last Tuesday night, who Patterson holds in high regard.
What About It jumped in front from box four but another dog clipped her heels, dragging her down and almost causing Patterson's greyhound to fall.
After working her way into third position, a dozen lengths off the lead on the back straight, What About It rocketed home to go down by less than two lengths.
"I'm really excited about this blue bitch, I think she can develop into a real good stayer,'' Patterson said.
He Knows Uno took the laconic Patterson on a wonderful "ride'' from 2010 to early 2013, scoring 35 wins, 21 seconds and 13 thirds from 83 starts.
He Knows Uno took on and defeated Australia's best sprint, middle and long distance performers, although the regular trips from northern NSW to Melbourne for major staying races became a burden for Patterson.
When I once told him He Knows Uno seemed to be the "complete'' greyhound, Patterson replied: "He is close to it, but I only wish I could teach him to drive.''
He Knows Uno, now 11 years old, and his litter sister Maddie Louise, who won 10 of 35 races, are family pets in the Patterson household, doubling as watchdogs looking out for their younger kennelmates.

ARMED Assassin has finished down the course in each of two Wentworth Park races but the Graeme Barnett-trained dog showed his true ability at Maitland on Thursday and his first win at headquarters should not be far off.
Armed Assassin, a burly 36kg wide runner, drew boxes two and four when unplaced in his Wenty races but should only need an outside draw to break through in town.
At Maitland he was fourth away from box seven but swept around his rivals to lead at the first turn, roaring away to win easily in a blistering 25s, only .44sec outside La Grand Quality's course record figures.

Friskey will be chasing her 39th win in 58 starts when she tackles the fifth race at Nowra tonight.
The Patrick Mulrine-trained short course marvel notched win number 38 over 297m at Dapto on Thursday, and although she turns four this month, is racing better than ever.
Friskey is a real winner, not a placegetter, as her 57 starts to date have yielded just nine placings.
