Jaro Bale demolishes his rivals at Richmond

While one Victorian was demolishing his rivals down in Wagga Wagga, another was doing likewise at Richmond, with the talented Jaro Bale destroying his opposition in the Regional Final of the TAB Million Dollar Chase.

At Wagga it was Deliver breaking the track record, and while Jaro Bale’s 30.11s was three lengths outside the record mark of Punch One Out, the victory was equally impressive.

Spearing from the boxes to lead on settling, Jaro Bale just raced away from his seven opponents adding more distance between himself and his rivals the longer the race went.

At the finish there was a margin of 7¼ lengths with Shanjo Prince finishing runner-up, while Rockstar Beav was third and Lektra Zephyr finishing fourth and collecting the final place in the October 11 semi-finals at Wentworth Park.

It was a tremendous training effort by Andrea Dailly and her team, qualifying three of those four, Shanjo Prince the only one not belonging to them, instead trained by Mark Gatt.

“He is a different dog when he gets out in front,” Andrea’s daughter Korie Heinrich said of Jaro Bale. “I was surprised to see him jump like that to be honest. We know he has plenty of ability, it’s just whether he puts it all together in a race. Tonight was one of those times when he did.

“He pretty much got out in front and not much can go wrong when he’s in front.”

Friday night was just the sixth time in 26 starts that Jaro Bale has jumped in front. He has won all six of those starts.

Korie said it was likely Jaro Bale would now head to Wentworth Park for a look before the October 11 semi-finals of the Million Dollar Chase.

After his heat win at Richmond last week, Andrea’s husband Tom commented that Jaro Bale was “probably a bit better than what most people think,” and after Friday’s win, those ‘people’ may now be having a rethink.

The Daillys qualified eight dogs for the semi-finals of last year’s inaugural Million Dollar Chase, and already they are halfway to that target.

Apart from the trio who have qualified through Richmond, they also qualified boom youngster Shima Shine after the greyhound won the Bulli Regional Final last Saturday night.
