Bedazzled chasing seven from seven at Richmond

By Jeff Collerson

Bedazzled Babe, who maintained her flawless record at Richmond last week, will line up again at the Londonderry track on Wednesday in a bid to notch her seventh win in seven starts.

Trained by Bellbird coal miner Brett Moore, Bedazzled Babe broke a four years old track record over 272m at LADBROKES GARDENS on August 2 and has since won over the Wentworth Park 280m trip in slick times of 16.18s and 16.11s.

While Bedazzled Babe did not break any records with her nippy 18.72s performance over 330m at Richmond last week, Moore considers the win among her finest.

"Instead of going straight to the lead, she had to come through the pack and then had to run down a terrific dog like Drink Schooners,'' Moore said.

"That experience should toughen her up and I intend nominating her for another 330m race at Richmond on Wednesday because I want to avoid subjecting her to bend starts.

"That's why I don't want to enter her for any 400m races because they are usually start on a bend.

"She could get knocked around as she jumps away from a corner start and that could ruin her confidence.

"After this week's Richmond meeting I am looking at taking Bedazzled Babe to Goulburn for a 350m series which is being conducTed during the Goulburn Cup carnival later next month.''

LEADING western districts trainer David Pringle (pictured) won Coonamble's 305m maiden final with About The South and took out the equivalent event over 530m with Midnight Dare in 2018 but will have just one starter at this year's carnival.

Pringle's sole starter in 2019 wll be Ringo's Magic, who will contest the 305m Garrards Horse And Hound Maiden heats on Saturday, October 5.

"I have been coming to Coonamble for over a dozen years and this will be the first year I have had only one starter,'' Pringle said.

"2018 was my most successful carnival yet, as a kennelmate of About The South finished third in the 305m final while Midnight Waltz, another of my team, chased home Midnight Dare in the 530m event.

"I took Ringo's Magic to Coonamble for a trial on Thursday so he will know his way around the track.''

Ringo's Magic is royally bred as his dam, Midnight News, is the mother of Buck's Future, Watch The Wasp, Midnight Starlet, Roper River Jake, Midnight Treat, Princess Nala, Old Timer and Midnight Joyce - all outstanding racers.

Midnight News began and ended her career at Coonamble, winning on debut there in 2012 and taking out a 530m event at the following year's carnival in her final race.

This year's carnival, which runs from October 4 to 7, has been boosTed by TAB rate prizemoney being applied to the opening Friday fixture.

NEWS that Osti Influence has whelped puppies to champion sire Fernando Bale will ensure one of the world's great dam lines will remain unbroken.

Osti Influence, who won three races at Wentworth Park in 2016 and 2017, is owned by Ashley Dwyer, who trained her throughout her career.

"Ted Doss, who began the 'Osti' breeding dynasty, is now 92, and last week I called in to see him at his home at Wallandbeen, near Cootamundra, to tell him about the Osti Influence pups,'' Dwyer said.

"I wanTed to assure him that the amazing line he established will continue,'' Dwyer said.

"Osti Too, who was a champion stayer, launched the dynasty which included the great Brett Lee, who was by Gun Law Osti.

"Gun Law Osti was out of Miss Dusty Lee who was produced by Osti Lee, so Ted Doss' dam line has been just phenomenal.

"When I visiTed Ted last week he poinTed out that on the day Osti Too was born, she narrowly avoided being bitten by a red bellied black snake.

"Just think, if she had been killed dozens of outstanding greyhounds who have graced our tracks over the past 60 years would not have seen the light of day.''
