Good Odds Buddy wasn't able to pull off a miracle box six win in Saturday's Maturity Classic at The Meadows but his litter brother and kennelmate Good Odds Harada stepped up to the plate to post fastest time of the night at Wentworth Park.
Good Odds Buddy was second reserve but gained a surprise call-up into the Maturity final so trainer Frank Hurst bundled him into the car and headed to Melbourne, leaving wife Tracey to bring Good Odds Harada at Wenty.
Good Odds Harada nailed the start from box one in the 520m Free-For-All and led throughout to score by a half-length from the Neil Staines-trained Bogan Doonie, who chased him throughout.
Jamella Jet, who was hampered by Bogan Doonie when attempting to reach the rails at the first turn, was a gallant third, two and a half lengths away.
The winner covered the 520m in 29.75, posting sizzling sectionals of 5.46, 13.77 and 17.86, taking his WP tally to a remarkably consistent six wins and seven placings from 15 starts.
After the race Jamella Jet's trainer Andrew Crouch said: "Our dog used to want box eight but nowadays there's no doubt he needs an inside draw.''
Almost as quick as Good Odds Harada on Saturday at WP was the Robbie Tyler-trained Zipping Truvy, who powered home to win a 520m fourth grade in 29.76.
Zipping Truvy was a long odds-on favourite from her perfect box one draw but after jumping smartly dropped back to be third at the first turn and fourth on the back straight.
She zoomed into second spot on the home turn and rocketed to the finish line, winning by over four lengths from the strong finishing Blinken Billy, with pacemaker Nangar Jack a close third.
After the race Zipping Truvy's trainer Robbie Tyler said: "She seems to be crying out for a middle distance already, even though she is just two years old.
"I was rapt in the way she finished on to win, but her lack of early speed is a worry.''
Punters who backed Nangar Blaze, who won a 520m fourth grade in a smart 29.87, have Fabrelass' trainer Simon Ma to thank for the event being declared a fair race.
Fabrelass fell approaching the first turn and headed back in the reverse direction, looking set to disrupt the field entering the home straight for the finishing run.
But her trainer Simon Ma, standing near the 520m boxes, called out to Fabrelass and instead of veering into the field, she galloped over to her "boss.''
Knight's Page gave trainer Gayle Masterson her third winner in a week when he held off Shanjo Prince for a nose win in Saturday's opening event, a 520m fifth grade.
Knight's Page had won for Masterson at LADBROKES GARDENS on July 20 while his litter sister and kennelmate Gilded Lady scored at Gosford on Tuesday.
"That win tonight was a big thrill as I have to enter hospital on Monday for surgery,'' Masterson said.
"Knight's Page will be handed over to trainer Anne Foley while I am incapacitated, as her husband Barry checks my dogs over for me so they know them well.''
