Early start and Auction action at Wenty

By Jeff Collerson

The new early start and finish times to Saturday night Wentworth Park meetings was a resounding success last week with one of the biggest crowds of the year in attendance and trainers strongly supporting the move.

This Saturday's meeting gets under way at 6.09pm but with a fund-raising auction scheduled for 8.25pm and fireworks programmed for 10 minutes later, race nine has been pushed back to 9.08pm with the last race at 9.33pm.

Breeders Ash and Ky Thomas have donated a nine months old puppy by Aston Dee Bee from Thinkalot, to be auctioned to raise funds for SINGLETON mum Kara Atkins and her eight-year-old daughter Bayley, whose three siblings perished in a house fire last month.

The auction pup is bred in the purple, as Aston Dee Bee won 35 of 65 starts and earned $800,000 in stakes, while Thinkalot is a half-sister to former crack Wentworth Park sprinter Whittaker, winner of 22 races.

Also included in the sale of the Aston Dee Bee puppy will be provision for all rearing, pre-training, education, transport (anywhere in Australia), veterinary care and even food.

Ash & Ky Thomas have also sourced 16 straws to various stud dogs, and these will also be auctioned at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.
