Jamella Jetting back to Brisbane

Adam Crouch says plans may now have to be revised after Jamella Jet scored an impressive win at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.

After a disappointing performance in the Origin series at Albion Park earlier this month, Adam and his father Andrew were resigned the fact that they wouldn’t go back for the heats of the $250,000 Brisbane Cup later in June, but following the Wentworth Park win, they have been forced to reassess.

"After Jamella Jet was unplaced at Albion Park on June 6 we were not going to take him back there but after this win I think we have to reconsider,” Adam said.

"After all, we have done the hard yards by taking Jamella Jet to Albion Park for a trial and then a race, so he deserves a crack at the Brisbane Cup heats on June 27.''

Jamella Jet pounced on the lead at the half-way mark to score by three lengths from the fast finishing Golden Easter Egg winner Zipping Bailey in 29.82s on a rain-affected track, fastest time of the night.

NSW Bred Series

It was a big night at Wentworth Park on Saturday for Adam and Andrew Crouch. Not only did Jamella Jet take out the Free-For-All but they also won the $10,000 to the winner of the NSW Bred Maiden Series with Chill Easy, who followed her all-the-way heat win in 30.43 with a repeat performance in 30.19 in the final.

"It has been a long hard road with Chill Easy as her career had to be put on hold after she came in season and then got sick with some kind of chest infection,'' Adam said.

Chill Again is owned by Ayden O’Donnell whose first greyhound was Big Butters, a finalist in the Million Dollar Chase for the Crouchs last year.

In another of the new GRNSW racing initiatives, the NSW Bred Non-Graded final, victory went to Jimmy Casey in 29.94s, with Kanzan and Two Times Twice winning the heats of the NSW Bred Stayers 5th Grade series. That final will be held next Saturday.

Ladbrokes Gold Muzzle Auction

It’s now less than a week until the inaugural Ladbrokes Gold Muzzle Auction takes place at Richmond Racetrack next Sunday.

The affordable way to race a winner is the appropriate slogan of the event with interest reaching every state of Australia and many overseas countries as well.

Prizemoney levels in the greyhound industry throughout Australia have never been higher, and the cost to purChase a pup and get it to the racetrack is minimal compared to thoroughbred racing.

More than 100 of the best-bred pups will go under the hammer on what is expected to be a major industry event with all pups sold at the auction eligible to compete in the 2020 Ladbrokes Golden Muzzle Race Series which has more than $100,000 in projected total prizemoney

The auction will be held undercover at Richmond Racetrack and there is plenty of entertainment on offer for the whole family.

Puppies can be viewed from 10.30am, there will be an owners and trainers forum featuring Group 1 winning trainer Jason Mackay and breeding expert David Brasch beginning at 11.30, with the Ladbrokes Gold Muzzle Puppy Auction commencing at 1pm.

Albion Park Feature Finals

The feature race spotlight shines on Brisbane this week with the final of the Group 3 Flying Amy and the Group 1 Gold Cup for stayers.

Former Victorian Black Opium, now trained by Queensland’s Tony Brett, is odds-on favourite for the Flying Amy following her stunning 29.54s heat win and coming up with the rails box for the final.

NSW will be represented by cult hero Feral Franky who staged an incredible performance to win his heat, and fellow heat winner Nangar Diva.

The box draw for the final is: 1 Black Opium 2 Shakey Diesel 3 Wildash Jakey 4 Sennachie 5 Feral Franky 6 Nangar Diva 7 Fernando’s Riot 8 Glorious Izmir 9 Dynamite Lucy 10 Good Odds Harada.

In the Gold Cup, Queensland trainer Darren Russell believes his talented stayer Bago Bye Bye only has to begin like he did in last week’s heats, to win the $150,000 final. Bago Bye Bye led throughout and made a one act affair of his heat, comfortably beating Sydney star Poco Dorado in 41.47s. Bago Bluff, also trained by Russell, but unrelated to Bago Bye Bye, won the other heat in 41.84s.

The box draw for the Cup final is: 1 Bago Bluff 2 Tornado Tears 3 Dyna Chancer 4 Peppertide 5 Stevick 6 Bago Bye Bye 7 Poco Dorado 8 Infrared Lad 9 Veloce Nero 10 Ella Enchanted.
