Just two trainers, Jodie Lord and Peter Sims, won 50 per cent of the card at Wentworth Park on Saturday night, with Lord's Cawborne Marty clocking fastest time of the meeting.
Lord, based at Gunning, won with Cawborne Marty in 29.78 and Cawbourne Madox in 30.22 before Joker Poker took out a roughly-run final event in 30.65.
Sims, from Illabo, near Wagga, brought only Tom's Desire and Instantaneous to Wentworth Park and both were successful, the former overcoming a slow start to win in 30.29 and the latter leading throughout in 30.11.
Cawborne Marty, whelped in March, 2017, is eligible for the July 6 heats of the Group 1 Vic Peters Classic, as is Jimmy Casey, who came from third early to win in 29.91 on Saturday night.
Jimmy Casey's trainer Peter Carr said at Wentworth Park: "My mission with Jimmy Casey and his equally talented brother Charlie Casey has always been the Vic Peters.
"They are the right age for this race and Jimmy Casey handled his wide draw extra well tonight.
"Although he has won from boxes two and three, Jimmy Casey is probably better suited out wide because he can run his own race from out there.''
Also a candidate for the Vic Peters Classic is Kid Candle, who scored his third Wentworth Park win in six appearances on Saturday night.
Kid Candle was fourth away but after being second at the first turn, hit the front on the home bend and won easily in 30.26.
"His past couple of trials have been over 407m at Grafton because I intend taking some dogs to the July Winter Carnival there and Kid Candle was going to be among them,'' Grimwood said.
"But he went so well tonight I am thinking of not taking him to Grafton and instead nominating him for the Vic Peters Classic.
"Kid Candle is not a brilliant beginner but is a good railer and is capable of showing speed at the first turn like he did tonight.''
Blinken Billy scored his second win in four WP outings for Kembla Grange trainer Ruth King when he grabbed the lead on the back straight to win a 520m fifth grade in 30.34.
"He is not a good box dog but he really wants to win and that is his big asset,'' King said later.
"Blinken Billy is racing again at Wentworth Park on Wednesday and all he will have between now and then is a swim, because he does not need a lot of work.''
Rostered On, who turns four in December, landed his 12th Wentworth Park race when he jumped in front and wasn't headed in a 520m fourth and fifth grade event.
Rostered On clocked a nippy 30.02, with trainer Chris Carl commenting: "He came out of the boxes tonight like he used to when he won a lot of races through jumping in front.
"While tonight's win was his first for a while, Rostered On was down in class and when dogs drop in class they are always in with a chance.''
