Bailey fit and ready to represent the Blues

Zipping Bailey showed she has taken no harm from her last start tumble at Sandown on May 24 with a dazzling trial over 395m at Albion Park on Sunday.

Preparing for her role in Thursday night's State Of Origin event, the Jason MACKAY-trained greyhound clocked 22.49, just .19sec outside course record time.

"They tell me no greyhound has broken 12 seconds run home time at the end of 395m but Bailey clocked 11.90 so it's all good for Thursday,'' MACKAY said.

Golden Nangar, who suffered terrible burns in a fire which destroyed a toolshed and kennel block at owner-trainer Graham Pickering's Coonamble property early this year, continued his remarkable comeback with another win at his local track on Saturday.

Golden Nangar, who had won over 340m at Tamworth two starts earlier, scored over 400m at Coonamble in 23.93, fastest time of the day.

"He is one tough dog,'' Pickering said.

"Golden Nangar was severely burned in the fire on January 14 which killed eight of his kennelmates.

"He still carries the scars along his rib cage and his shoulders but in a way my laziness saved his life.

"I had not got around to welding the mesh onto the bar of the gate and because Golden Nangar was nearest the entrance to the shed, he was able to kick open his door and escape.

"He was at the veterinary surgeon's for two days but when I visited all he wanted to do was come home with me.

"So I and a fellow local trainer, Damien Lee, and I brought him home and we treated him ourselves with ointment and Golden Nangar gradually recovered.

"The fire caused $100,000 worth of damage but it was the death of the dogs which broke my heart, not the financial loss.

"I am back training and have four race dogs and three pups in my care.''

Prince Planet was far from disgraced in finishing second over 366m at Queensland's Capalaba on Sunday but won't be returning for next Sunday's heats of the 366m Straight Of Origin.

Last Sunday's stars were a trio from the NSW Northern Rivers, the Bob Cooke-trained duo Smooth Act and Cash Point and the old warrior Cosmic Bonus, from the Evelyn Harris kennel.

Smooth Act won in 19.43, fastest time of the day, while Cash Point and Cosmic Bonus recorded 19.68 and 19.69 respectively.

They look the ones to beat in Sunday's heats and Prince Planet's trainer Mark Bell will now head to Maitland with his young speedster.

"It took me 12 hours to get to Capalaba and as a winner of just one race, Prince Planet was giving away too much in terms of experience.

"He missed the start before finishing second and I reckon he probably needed another look at the track to be competitive with the greyhounds from Bob Cooke and Evelyn Harris' kennels.''
