The NSW GBOTA has announced the appointment of Steve Noyce as their new General Manager, heralding the dawn of a new era for the GBOTA in NSW.
Noyce replaces Brenton Scott at the helm of the organisation, who held the role for over 20 years, and led the organisation through some challenging times in recent years.
Steve started his career in finance and banking working for a one of the major four banks for around 14 years. He then went on to create a long and distinguished career in sports administration dating back to the 1980s. Noyce spent five successful years at the Sydney Turf Club during the 1990’s, where his work and innovation in the area of marketing and events is still being copied and recognised today. He then set his mind to the NRL being appointed as the inaugural CEO of the Wests Tigers’ club, leading them from inception in 2000 to their maiden NRL premiership in 2005. He was then recruited to the Sydney Roosters, during a time that saw great success including the delivery of their premiership in 2013. He was then appointed by the NRL to oversee the under siege Cronulla Sharks, in the wake of the ASADA peptides scandal. In recent years he has successfully led an organisation that delivers programs that support social issues via sporting involvement.
Speaking about the appointment, GBOTA Chairman Joe Cotroneo said: “Having someone of Steve’s background and acumen in financial management and sports administration to lead the GBOTA, sends a message to all involved in our great sport that the GBOTA is very committed to facing both the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for its members and the sport of Greyhound Racing in NSW. We undertook a thorough and transparent search to assess available talent in the market place from all over Australia and are delighted to see Steve come out on top as our preferred candidate. The Board is excited about what lies ahead under the leadership of Steve and we are aiming to have him on board by mid-June.”
