Wentworth Park short course star One For Tod returns to headquarters on Saturday night in a bid to score her fifth win in seven starts over the 280m trip.
The Shane Pulbrook-trained speedster has box eight in the Ladbrokes Info Hub Stakes, and with a Wenty 280m tally of four wins and two seconds from six outings she looks well placed.
But Pulbrook has warned One For Tod would be better suited drawn closer to the rails.
"I would prefer to see her in boxes one, two or three, but if she can't be there I guess box eight is next best,'' Pulbrook said.
"One For Tod likes the inside but should be okay if she begins cleanly.
"Last time she had box eight in a 280m race at Wenty, on April 12, she was last to leave the boxes and did well to finish second.
"But you can't afford to come out last and win when you are contesting such a short race.''
One For Tod has exited box eight nine times for four wins and three placings, so still looks the greyhound to beat providing she jumps well.
Her toughest rival could be the George Borg-trained Ben Hur, who has been sidelined with injury for 11 months.
Ben Hur has raced 35 times for an impressive 14 wins and 11 placings but Borg said today: "He is returning from a bad injury and is nowhere near the dog he was once.
"Last July Ben Hur suffered a badly injured stopper bone and that usually spells the end of a greyhound's career.
"It has been a long haul getting him back to the track but he trialled 18.83 over 330m at Richmond recently and I was fairly happy with those figures.
"Early in his career Ben Hur was a brilliant beginner but had developed a bad habit of missing the jump before he got hurt last year and he can't afford to bungle the start on Saturday night.''
Feature race on Saturday night is the 720m Ladbrokes Monthly Medal final, with fastest heat winner Dreamin' Is Free, who qualified in 42.72, in box six, and Blazing Cartier, the other heat winner at 43.10, in box three.
Dreamin' Is Free led throughout to win her heat from box one and trainer John Finn concedes she does not have a good draw on Saturday night.
"Although she is badly boxed, the heat run did not flatten Dreamin' Is Free, she pulled up well after her first 720m race and I think she is capable of improvement,'' Finn said.
"She is a natural stayer.''
Finn has several runners but his best chance looks to be Really Unreal, who has box one in the opening event, the 520m Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes.
Really Unreal had box eight when she ran down Nangar Blaze to win in a slick 29.92 over 520m at WP on May 22, and Minnie Finn, the trainer's wife, said: "She is better suited where she is drawn on Saturday night, on the rails.''
