Diva who looks great in pink set for Wenty success

By Jeff Collerson

Nangar Diva's past three Wentworth Park wins have been out of box eight and she looks set to "look pretty in pink'' again in Saturday night's Ladbrokes Multimaker Stakes at headquarters.

The Dennis Barnes-trained Nangar Diva clocked 29.76 winning from box eight on March 13, recorded 30.05 from the same draw 10 days later, and posted a blistering 29.55 while wearing the pink rug on April 10.

She finished fifth in a heat of the Dubbo Gold Cup last Sunday and while the run looked disappointing on paper, there were excuses for Nangar Diva's loss.

Nangar Diva trailed brilliant front-runner Caitlyn Keeping to the home turn but became "tangled up'' with the pacemaker at the top of the straight and lost all chance.

On Saturday night Nangar Diva should only need to come out cleanly to be the leader at the crucial first corner, and from that point, as the quickest Wentworth Park winner in the field, she should notch her fifth city win in a dozen outings.

A collision at the first turn ruined Bad Ronnie's chances at Wentworth Park last Saturday night and the Craig Sheridan-trained greyhound did well to finish third to Tyson Tanga.

Bad Ronnie is well positioned in box seven in Saturday's wentworthpark.com.au Stakes and is the only greyhound in the field to have broken the 30sec barrier for the 520m trip at Wenty.

Bad Ronnie has clocked 29.92 with the 30.07 recorded by rivals Stella Marina and Fancy Irene next best.

"He is a funny dog because one minute he likes to cut to the rails but then, on the back straight, he wants to run wide,'' trainer Craig Sheridan said.

"Bad Ronnie possesses a very good middle section at Wenty so if he is anywhere near the lead going through the catching pen he is always a chance.

"He took no harm from his third at Wentworth Park last week which did not surprise me because he is a really tough dog, he pulls up well after each race.''

Twice As Wise was beaten into fifth spot at her most recent Wentworth Park outing but she can make amends in Saturday night's @wpgrey on twitter Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Twise As Wise has box six and trainer Justin King believes the draw could suit her.

"I like her drawn out wide,'' King said.

"My only concern is that Rocket Man, who has box seven, has good early speed and could worry my bitch in the run to the first turn.

"When Twice As Wise was unplaced at Wenty last Saturday she jumped well but then knuckled over, I think she must have slipped on the matting in front of the boxes.

"Her only poor run was when she was unplaced from box one at WP in April but the morning after that race Twice As Wise was off colour and seemed to have picked up some sort of virus.

"She showed she had shaken that off when she finished third to Timeless Moment at Wentworth Park on May 8 and is raring to go again now.''

Best boxed runner on Saturday night is the JODIE Lord-trained Pro Bono, who has drawn one in the 520m Ladbrokes Cash Out Stakes.

Pro Bono had box six when he railed keenly to hit the front on the back straight before being runner-up to noted strong finisher Timeless Moment at Wentworth Park last Saturday.

Pro Bono won his only race from box one and has been a model of consistency, registering three seconds from three WP starts and contesting nine races overall for three wins and four seconds.
