Miley Nismo produces her best yet at Wenty

By Jeff Collerson

"THAT was her best performance'' said Tony Mason after wife Nichole's bonny bitch Miley Nismo notched her fourth win in six Wentworth Park starts on Saturday night.

Miley Nismo took her overall record to nine wins from 15 appearances with a tenacious performance to win a 520m fourth and fifth grade in 30.09sec, fastest time of the night.

Although those figures were wide of Miley Nismo's personal best Wenty time of 29.78, Saturday night's track tended to be heavy and the Hunter Valley-trained greyhound's performance was outstanding.

Miley Nismo made the early pace from box five but was headed in the middle stages by Cawbourne Get Up.

Leaving the back straight Miley Nismo regained the lead and careered away in the straight, scoring by over five lengths.

"She really did us proud tonight, we are rapt in Miley Nismo's performance, undoubtedly her best yet,'' Tony Mason said.

Most remarkable run on Saturday was the win of Timeless Moment who almost threw away her heat of the Ladbrokes Multimaker Series by spearing off the track on the home bend and almost hitting the 520m starting boxes.

Timeless Moment looked all over a winner as she joined pacemaker Pro Bono coming to the turn but lost at least two lengths by veering off the course.

She flashed home out wide to win by a neck.

Doreen Drynan, whose daughter Kerry trains Timeless Moment, said later: "She is a wide runner but she does not get as wide as she did tonight when she is on the bunny and in the lead.

"It is when she has dogs in front of her that she gets as wide as she did in tonight's race.''

Best run home time of the night was the 11.77s posted by the Jason Magri-trained Secret Talks, who won a 520m fifth grade by nine lengths in 30.14.

"He had a bit of a bumping duel with the co-pacemaker Rocket Man all the way down the back straight so it was pleasing to see him hit the finish line so hard,'' trainer Magri said.

Magri landed a winning double when Richmond Derby winner Catch Me Curly took out the Free-For-All.

Popular trainer Jenny Brown, who suffered a stroke in February, would have received a tremendous thrill with the win by Fabrelass, owned by her long-time client David Taylor and now trained by Simon Ma.

Ma took over the training of Fabrelass after Brown was hospitalised, and while Fabrelass had won twice at WP for Brown, Saturday's was her first city success for Ma.

"Fabrelass has been jumping well lately and while she has been racing at around 31.7kg, I wanted her a bit lighter and she was down to 31.3kg tonight,'' Ma said.

"I think that made a difference to her but she had a bit of luck, getting into a forward position early after making a good start.''

Like Magri, trainer Jodie Lord also collected double, taking out races nine and 10 with New Mexico Star and Just Terms.

New Mexico Star, who was making her Wentworth Park debut, only clocked 30.55s but showed terrific early speed and led throughout to win a 520m fifth grade by two lengths.

For the consistent youngster, who does not turn two until next month, it was her sixth win in 10 starts.
