Sunburnt Opal had box eight when she beat only one home at Wentworth Park last Saturday night but the move to box one this Saturday can put the inside draw specialist back in the winner's circle.
The Judith Richardson-trained greyhound will wear the red rug in the Duke's Ladbrokes Previews Stakes, a 520m fifth grade, where she will be chasing her sixth win in 13 starts from the inside trap.
Sunburnt Opal has recorded a slick 29.91 from box one at Wentworth Park and Judith Richardson believes her sixth to Blocker Tifia last week should be discarded.
"Another greyhound on Sunburnt Opal's inside ran right off the track at the first turn and she was lucky not to get knocked down,'' Richardson said.
"Sunburnt Opal missed the kick slightly last week but has been mostly jumping well lately and she likes the inside, she is a good railer.
"One of her best assets is that she is very smart in a field.''
Queensland Derby placegetter King Cratos, the in-form veteran Dual Keroma, and last week's Bob Payne Sprint winner Good Odds Harada, look set to provide a thrilling top grade 520m Free-For-All at Wentworth Park on Saturday night.
King Cratos was sent out a $2.50 favourite for the Queensland Derby at Albion Park on May 9 on the strength of a blistering 29.92 heat win.
But the Jason Magri-trained greyhound missed the jump in the final and after being caught up in traffic at the first turn, was far from disgraced when beaten 10 lengths into third place.
He is well positioned in box two on Saturday after winning in a sizzling 29.67 from box three at Wentworth Park on April 10.
Dual Keroma was once considered better suited drawn wide but trainer Susan Pitstock has no qualms about her greyhound exiting box one on Saturday.
Dual Keroma has won two of his four starts from the rails alley and posted slick splits of 5.48, 13.80 and 17.91 in his all-the-way 29.74 win from box four at Wentworth Park last Saturday night.
Pitstock's husband Ray said: "Dual Keroma missed the Bob Payne heats on May 4 through injury so while he was fit last week, he was not what you would call race fit.
"Dual Keroma turns four at the end of June but is racing as well as ever and only needs a bit of luck to be hard to beat again this Saturday night.
"The only time he really flopped from box one was in the 2018 Paws Of Thunder final at Wentworth Park, when he mis-judged the start completely.''
Good Odds Harada, who took the lead leaving the back straight before winning last week's Bob Payne final in race record time of 29.58, has box eight in Saturday's Free-For-All.
The Frank Hurst-trained dog is a reliable beginner and although he rails well, he has won five of his seven races from boxes six, seven and eight, so should have no trouble handling the extreme outside draw on Saturday.
The race will almost certainly be decided at box rise, with King Cratos possibly having a slight edge if he jumps cleanly.
Fever Frenzy finished down the course when making his debut at his only Wentworth Park start but looks good value in Saturday night's 10th race, a 520m fifth grade.
Trainer Wayne Sugars had set Fever Frenzy for the group 3 Magic Maiden series but the dog missed the start in his April 3 heat before showing good speed to hit the front at the first turn.
Fever Frenzy got wide going through the catching pen and dropped out of contention, but Sugars said his greyhound had been injured during that race.
"He went amiss that night and while Fever Frenzy can miss the jump, he has good pace when he hits the ground,'' Sugars said.
"I think he will handle box eight okay providing the dogs on his inside go towards the inside fence.
"Fever Frenzy is certainly handling himself better in a field now than he was when he was last seen at Wenty.''
