Vale - John Brain

Greyhound racing has lost one of its favourite sons, with the sudden passing of former Lithgow President John Brain last week.

John, whose name has been synonymous with the Lithgow Club for a number of decades, only recently stepping down from his role as president, was also a trainer of note, and put the collar and lead on several very good dogs in his time, including Swift And DIRECT, Strong Drop, and Moscovite who won 16 races, many at his home track in Lithgow, but also four of those at Wentworth Park.

John is survived by his wife Pat, children Sheena, Tanya, and Clint, daughter-in-law Peta, and grandchildren, Keegan and Mitchell.

A service will be held on Wednesday May 8, at St Patrick's Catholic Church, Mort Street, Lithgow at midday.

A much loved character, and friend to all in the industry, John Brain will be sadly missed by all in greyhound racing. John was 80.

GRNSW wishes to pass on condolences to John's family and friends
