Golden Easter Egg a massive wagering winner

Not only was last Saturday night’s Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg meeting at Wentworth Park a rousing success on track, but wagering figures have revealed it was also a colossus off track with punters.

Wagering turnover on the meeting was a staggering $4.21 million making it the third-highest NSW greyhound wagering night ever.

Only the GRNSW + Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase Final, which held an incredible $6.2 million and the semi-final night of that inaugural series - $5 million - have been bigger betting nights for the sport in NSW.

What is most impressive however, and a positive boost for the sport, is the Year-on-Year figures.

Last year the Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg night held $3.13 million, which means it has seen whopping 34.3% growth in turnover Year-on-Year, remarkable figures on any race night, but exceptional on a Group 1 evening.

Among the big wagering movers on the night were NSW TAB Fixed odds which were up 59.4% on 2018, and Ladbrokes, whose overall turnover was up 55.9% on last year, but all major betting agencies had substantial increases on what they turned over on the night 12 months earlier.
