Gold Muzzle Auction confirmed with over 100 noms

The viability of June’s Ladbrokes Gold Muzzle Auction has now been rubber-stamped with nominations exceeding 100 after a late flurry of entries were received before Monday’s deadline.

Set to showcase greyhound racing in a wonderful light, with some superbly bred youngsters to be splashed across the catalogue, the countdown is now well and truly on to the June 23 Gold Muzzle Auction at Richmond race track.

“The overall quality of pups to be offered is among the best we’ve seen at any Auction,” said GMA Managing Director Mark Duclos.

“With every leading sire represented, and offspring from dam’s who have either thrown G1 winners or were G1 chasers themselves, we are expecting very spirited bidding on what promises to be a great day for the NSW greyhound industry.

“Pups out of quality dams such as Chica Destacada, My Lady Day, Lagoon Jazzy, Makedonia, Eva Diva, Kulu Cha Ching, Betty Barbun, Lagoon Prissy and Marilena Franco will ensure that buyers are spoiled for choice.”

Duclos went on to say that the select size of the Ladbrokes sponsored Auction works in the favour of prospective buyers, when you consider there is more than $100,000 in prizemoney for the Gold Muzzle race series to be staged in 2020 alone.

“Given that we look like having a total of about 110 pups to be sold, that means that a buyer has a 1 in 110 chance of winning a $40,000 race and as we know, not every pup will be ready to compete in the race series so the odds are actually even better than that,” added Duclos.

“This Auction provides the industry a terrific way of channeling new people into the sport and with some quality lots up for grabs we look forward to promoting that very thing over the course of the next six weeks.”
