Mrs Emgrand dances back to Wentworth Park

By Jeff Collerson

Sydney's most exciting long-distance prospect Mrs Emgrand returns to Wentworth Park tonight where she is tipped to take her record to five wins from nine starts in the 720m Ladbrokes Cash In Stakes.

Mrs Emgrand made a stunning debut as a stayer over the WP 720m trip on January 23, leading throughout for a nine lengths' winning romp in the brilliant time of 42.28sec.

She had box one in that race and will wear the red rug again tonight.

While she has not raced for a month, Mrs Emgrand is ready to win according to trainer Luke Azzopardi.

"She is ideally drawn and is going extra well,'' Azzopardi said.

"Since her last start, when she won in fast time over 600m at LADBROKES GARDENS, I have given her a couple of trials at Richmond and Gosford and she has gone as good as she has ever gone.''

While tonight's race does not look strong, Azzopardi said he has a high opinion of the Christine Proctor-trained youngster Show Me Confetti.

A mere 21 months of age and the veteran of just three races for two provincial wins, Show Me Confetti has box seven.

"I expect Mrs Emgrand to win but she won't want to do anything wrong because I think Show Me Confetti is going to develop into a good stayer,'' Azzopardi said.

While Mrs Emgrand appeals as tonight's best bet, there is good value in King Kinloch, who has box six in race nine, the 520m Ladbrokes Info Hub Stakes.

King Kinloch is having his first start for new trainer Noelene Holloway and is the only WP winner in tonight's field of seven.

King Kinloch ran down Holloway's front-running Speedy Marina to win in a moderate 30.54 at WP on January 9 before making the pace when third, beaten just under four lengths, in 30.38 at the same course on January 23.

"He seems to be partial to Wentworth Park but there are a couple of other fifth grades on at Wenty and I'm just glad King Kinloch didn't get drawn in one of those races,'' Holloway said.

"Those fifth grades seem pretty strong but luckily King Kinloch is in a race he seems capable of winning.''

King Kinloch tends to run in the centre of the track so box six should suit his style of racing.

Boom Newcastle youngster Lochinvar Dynamo makes his keenly anticipated first WP appearance in tonight's fourth event, the 520m Duke's Ladbrokes Previews Stakes.

Lochinvar Dynamo has recorded five wins and two seconds from nine provincial starts but while he has won two from two starts out of box six, he looks awkwardly positioned out wide in box eight.

Lochinvar Dynamo would be better positioned from an inside draw as he has won each of his races from boxes one and two.

He clocked a sizzling 29.48sec winning from box one over 515m at LADBROKES GARDENS on March 8 and when he won from box six at Gosford on January 22, Lochinvar Dynamo secured a clear run and was able to "find'' the rails going through the catching pen.

Young Buster, who led everywhere bar the post when a close second to Solar Sky at his only WP start, is ideally placed in box one, while Warden Ann, box two, is likely to improve on her fourth at her city debut last week.

Warden Ann disputed the early lead with Tamou Banner but collided at the first turn and after holding down second spot on the back straight, faded in the run home.

She is highly talented and before appearing last Wednesday at WP Warden Ann had won five from eight races at Richmond and Goulburn.
