Ladbrokes Richmond Oaks & Derby run in fine form

It was a great night had by all who attended the running of the Ladbrokes Richmond Oaks and Derby Finals at Richmond Greyhound Racing Club on Friday night.

The group 2 feature races were taken out by Dam Slippery (Oaks – 30.43sec) and Catch Me Curly (Derby – 30.68sec), both in fine fashion and collecting a purse of $40,000 each.

One notable race on the night was the Frank Kennedy Memorial Stakes, run over 535m and taken out by Grand Izmir. It was a special moment for the Kennedy family, who were on-track for the race with son Terry, host of Sky Radio’s Big Sports Breakfast, speaking after the race.

Midnight Dare comes to the city and impresses

What a star we have on our hands.

After three wins from three career starts, David Pringle believed it was time to test his 26 month-old out in the city – and what a result she produced.

Running a time of 29.55sec over 520m, Midnight Dare produced a sensational run rarely seen by a dog her age to take out the 5th grade race.

We will watch with eager eyes over the coming weeks to see where else this young pup pops up.

Track record tumbles on Temora Cup night

While the feature event of the night, the Temora Gold Cup, went to Ample Warning, a genuine highlight to come out of the Riverina clubs major night was Embye breaking the track record over 570m in a time of 32.71sec.

Despite not getting off to the best start, the Ruth Matic-trained greyhound found an opening made by Empire Reign to break through the pack.

From there, it found the rail and headed for home without opposition to record an extremely impressive victory.
