Wentworth Park Wednesday Preview

By Jeff Collerson

ZIPPING Bailey will be a hot favourite after winning eight of 17 provincial starts and is drawn to break through for her first Wentworth Park win in tonight's Ladbrokes Info Hub Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

Trainer Jason MACKAY has plumped for ZIPPING Bailey as the best chance of his three runners tonight at headquarters.

"It looks a winnable race and box one is perfect for ZIPPING Bailey,'' MACKAY said.

"She has trialled very fast at Wenty but was a bit immature when she was runner-up in one of her only two races there.

"I took her to Melbourne for the 600m Hume Cup at The Meadows and since returning she has won each of her two starts, over 450m at Maitland.''

MACKAY also has Aston It Is in box four in tonight's Free-For-All along with Final Verdict in box two in race 10, a 520m fifth grade.

"Aston It Is might not be a star but he is a handy dog who helps pay the bills,'' MACKAY said.

"He is going okay at the moment and if he can find the rails from his box four draw he will be hard to hold out.

"He gets to the line strongly and the small field is in his favour.''

Tonight's other safe bet should be Cosmic Blend, who, like ZIPPING Bailey, will wear the red rug.

Cosmic Blend is in the 520m Out Of Range At Stud Stakes, a moderate class fourth grade event.

"If she steps away cleanly she should go close to winning,'' Cosmic Blend's trainer Mark Wilcox said.

"Box one is a funny draw at Wenty because if they miss the jump they can be in trouble.

"But this looks a good race for her as I probably won't take her to Bulli for the Gold Cup heats on Saturday week because Cosmic Blend is better suited on a two-turn track like Wentworth Park.''

Tonight's Wentworth Park card features three heats of the Ladbrokes Maiden Series where trainer Rob Tyler has four starters, Segredo and Silenci in heat one, Sakichi in heat two, and Salaam in the third heat.

"My quartet are not world beaters but are handy types and they have all had trials around Wenty so will know where they are going,'' Tyler said.

"Silenci, who has box seven, and Sakichi, who has drawn two, are my best prospects.

"The wide draw should suit Silenci while Sakichi is a good railer so he also looks well positioned.''

King Cratos, undefeated in four starts, will be on trial for a start in Saturday week's Bulli Gold Cup heats when he contests tonight's WP On Facebook Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.

King Cratos overcame a moderate getaway to lead at the first turn before winning at his Wentworth Park debut last Saturday night.

The dog set up a huge lead on the back straight but faded in the straight to win by just under a length in the fast time of 29.89sec.

King Cratos handled box seven capably on Saturday so looks well placed in box eight tonight, but he faces stiffer opposition.

ZIPPING Blitz, who is also a Wentworth Park winner and who has won two of his past three starts at Gosford, is ideally placed in box one and has had far more experience than King Cratos.

"I will be guided on whether to start King Cratos in the Bulli Gold Cup by what he does at Wentworth Park,'' trainer Jason Magri said.
