Mount Brown was virtually knocked out of the race by a wide runner at the first turn last Wednesday at Wentworth Park but has the draw to make amends in tonight's Ladbrokes Daily Video Stakes at headquarters.
Mount Brown has won two of his five races from box one and will wear the red rug in tonight's 520m fourth and fifth grade event.
The Charlie Micallef-trained greyhound is the only starter to have won four races at WP and with Double Stitched, who tends to run in the centre of the track, in box two, Mount Brown appeals as tonight's best bet.
Last week Mount Brown jumped well from box four but lost all chance when the greyhound in box one veered wide and collided with him at the first corner.
Big Butters, who ran down group race stars Hecton Bale, True Talent, Hasten Slowly and Orson Allen to win a semi-final of the Million Dollar Chase at WP on October 12, resumes after a month's break from box one in tonight's far easier 520m Free-For-All.
When she won her Chase semi-final Big Butters stopped the clock at a blistering 29.69sec, figures bettered on the night only by Australia's top sprinter, the mighty Poke The Bear, who had won his semi in 29.66.
Big Butters ssubsequently finished sixth in Mystic Riot's Millon Dollar Chase final on October 20 but although she has not raced since, connections say she is ready to win first-up.
Adam Crouch, whose father Andrew trains Big Butters, said: "Box one is fine because she can handle any box.
"Although we have not done a lot with her since she contested the Million Dollar Chase she is fit enough to win first up.
"If Big Butters gets a bit of room on the inside in the run to the first turn she will go really well.''
Big Butters should receive space when the boxes open as Sunburnt Highway, Splinters and Nangar Kash, in boxes two, three and four, are not tight railers.
Bugatti Chiron was beaten nearly six lengths into second place by the winner Tornado Time in her 520m fifth grade at WP last week but would have finished much closer had she not been checked on the home bend.
Bugatti Chiron should only need to begin cleanly to be hard to hold out in tonight's opening race, a 520m fifth grade.
"She pulled up really well after last week, and that was a good effort considering she was having only the second 520m race of her career,'' trainer Jacqueline Davis said.
"Unfortunately Bugatti Chiron has never drawn closer to the rails than box four and while she has drawn five this week she has won two of her four starts from that box.''
Zipping Alvin had been in trainer James Porter's kennels for only 10 days before finishing third at his WP debut last Saturday and could show the benefit of that experience by taking out tonight's Duke's Ladbrokes Previews Stakes, a 520m fifth grade.
"When I got him from his previous trainer Jason Mackay, he told me Zipping Alvin had a couple of 520m trials at Wenty under his belt and clocked 30.30 and 30.21,'' Porter said.
"Zipping Alvin is not a flash beginner but I like the way he musters pace quickly once he hits the ground.''
At his WP race debut last Saturday, Zipping Alvin, having his first start for Porter, was third to the back straight and second turning for home before finishing a distant third to Nangar Blaze.
Although beaten 11 lengths, Zipping Alvin was not disgraced as the winner sped over the 520m in 30.01sec, equal fastest time of the night.
Tonight's opposition does not look as strong and with wide runner Prince Fabloch in box six, Zipping Alvin is likely to get a clear run to the first turn from box five.
