Tap Out Dusty and Deliver were beaten in heats of the group 1 Ladbrokes Vic Peters Classic but they are drawn to quinella Saturday night's $75,000 to the winner final at Wentworth Park.
Deliver, who chased home Zipping Tayla in 30.16 in last week's third heat, has box three, while Tap Out Dusty, who snared the minor placing in the same qualifying race, has box one.
Tap Out Dusty drew poorly in box eight last week and trainer Rod Metselaar was delighted when his greyhound came up with the rails trap in the final.
No wonder, as Tap Out Dusty has had four starts from box one without being defeated.
"He pulled up beautifully after his hard heat run when he bungled the start before finding trouble trying to get to the fence,'' Metselaar said.
"I only hope his box manners on Saturday are better than what they were for the heat.
"He has box one in the final, now he just has to use it.
"Since last week Tap Out Dusty has had his usual preparation, a sprint up the straight behind the lure on Tuesday and then I whistled him up the straight, without the hare, on Thursday.''
Awesome Catch, owned and trained by Vince Tullio, was fastest heat winner, stopping the clock at 29.98 after exiting box one, but was scratched on Friday from the final.
Tullio also owns the Seona Thompson-trained Deliver and has declared that greyhound "a fair bit quicker'' than Awesome Catch.
"Deliver is capable of jumping smartly and if he does that, and leads around the first turn, I am confident he will not only win, but win easily,'' Tullio said.
"Deliver's run to finish second in his heat was terrific as he had never seen Wenty before and seemed to get lost coming to the home turn.''
Irinka Lizzy was the other heat winner, coming from last early and getting a 'dream' run along the rails at the first turn to grab the lead on the back straight before scoring in 30.20.
Irinka Lizzy had box six last week and has again drawn moderately in eight in the final.
Queensland trainer Steven Scott was disappointed when his Classic qualifiers Coopes and Mottza drew boxes two and four respectively.
"Coopes is a wide runner and is likely to put Mottza out of business in the run to the first turn,'' Scott said.
"Coopes is a bit faster than Mottza but I desperately wanted to see him drawn out wide in the final.''
In last week's heat Coopes was slowly away from box eight and after sweeping around the field to be second on the back straight, faded to finish third to Irinka Lizzy.
Mottza led from the first turn to the home bend when second to Awesome Catch in heat two.
Bad Boy Joe is set to complete a remarkable recovery from a serious injury by taking out Saturday night's WP On Facebook Stakes, a 520m fourth and fifth grade.
Bad Boy Joe made the pace when second, from box six, to Finale in a slick 29.89 at WP on October 24, when he was having his first start at headquarters since February.
"He cracked a hock at Bulli in March and was sidelined for nearly six months,'' Bad Boy Joe's trainer Jason Magri said.
"I was very pleased with his second to Finale at Wenty last week because that was the best run he has given me since he resumed racing after the injury.
"It was no fluke either because Bad Boy Joe has trialled very well since last week's Wentworth Park race.
"He began fast from box six last time out but when he was previously in work I preferred him drawn on the inside so box one on Saturday looks good.''
