Victorians coming to chase the Million Dollars

By Jeff Collerson

Crack Victorian trainer Andrea Dailly is attacking Wentworth Park on Saturday night with 14 starters on the 10 race card - including a dozen in the five heats of the GRNSW + Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase.

Dailly, who trained Australia's best greyhound of the past decade, Fernando Bale (pictured), winner of 35 from 44 races and $1.3 million in prizemoney, is especially upbeat about the chances of Dyna Patty in heat five of the Chase.

"She has box seven and is well positioned out wide because she does not have brilliant early pace,'' Dailly said.

"Dyna Patty has won 11 of 28 starts and is going particularly well at present, recording 29.18, blistering time, over 515m at Sandown last Sunday.''

Dailly also expects Dyna Zesty and Dyna Harpa, who have boxes four and five respectively in heat one of the Chase, to go well.

"There is nothing between them and Dyna Harpa won a Free-For-All at The Meadows recently while Dyna Zesty is a bit slow early but is very strong at the finish of her races.

"My three runners in heat four, Rockstar Toovey in box one, Dyna Oscar in three and Mossimo Bale in six, are all capable of winning.

"Rockstar Toovey has just come back from injury but is going well while Dyna Oscar won impressively at The Meadows last Saturday.''

"I have Lila Bale and Verne Allen in heat three but while Lila Bale has ability she is unreliable and Verne Allen is badly drawn in box eight.''

Hecton Bale, who has earned $397,000 in stakes, will represent Dailly from box four in heat two where the group 1 specialist trainer also has Dyna Carnie in box seven.

"This looks a really tough heat but Dyna Carnie, who has been runner-up at his past four starts from inside boxes, will relish being drawn out wide,'' Dailly said.

Other leading Victorian trainers strongly represented in Saturday night's Million Dollar Chase heats are Jeff Britton and his partner Angela Langton, who have a starter in each heat.

They have Wise Piquet in box eight in heat one, Go Seek Fernando (six) in heat two, Alpha Georgiou (two) in heat three, Go Seek Heidi (5) in heat four with Hasten Slowly exiting box four in heat five.

Alpha Georgiou and Hasten Slowly are well known to Wentworth Park fans but Britton has a big opinion of Go Seek Fernando, who is up against local star Miss Splendamiro in heat two.

"Go Seek Fernando is flying at the moment and because he has pace and is likely to run in a straight line from the start to the first turn, I don't think box six will worry him,'' Britton said.

"Wise Piquet is badly boxed in the eight but Go Seek Heidi has a chance because while she would be better off drawn on the rails she has a bit of early zip and has been going well over middle distances.''

Each placegetter in Saturday night's five Million Dollar Chase heats will qualify for eight semi-finals at Wentworth Park on Friday, October 12, with another five Wenty heats programmed for Saturday week and then four more on October 6.

In other action at headquarters on Saturday night the rails box should enable Zipping Kelly to break through for her first Wentworth Park win in the opening event, the 720m WP On Facebook Stakes, for fifth grade stayers.

The JODIE Lagogiane-trained Zipping Kelly was desperately unlucky when a fast finishing second to Blue Moon Rising over 600m at LADBROKES GARDENS at her most recent start after finding trouble from box four.

She should relish having the inside trap and is suited over 720m, having clocked a smart 42.43 in finishing a close second, from box seven, behind Irinka Leanne over the Wenty long-distance trip on May 2.

While he has not raced at Wentworth Park, the Rodney Metselaar-trained Tap Out Dusty has won five of seven provincial starts and looks well placed in box one in Saturday's final race, the fifth grade 520m thedogs.com.au Stakes.
