The rails draw will see a fitting Finale

By Jeff Collerson

Finale has not previously drawn box one but the dog's exemplary form from inside boxes points to him handling the rails trap to perfection at Bulli on Saturday night.

The Julie Fletcher-trained Finale will wear the red rug in the 472m Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes, and as a winner of five from 11 starts, he looks well placed in the fifth grade event.

Finale has notched five wins from seven appearances out of boxes two, three, four and five, with his four other defeats coming when he has exited outside boxes.

Another greyhound set to make full use of box one at Bulli is Ritza Millie in race three, a non-graded 515m event.

Ritza Millie is undefeated in three starts from the rails alley, and punters should forget her unplaced effort in a 618m event at Richmond last Saturday.

In that race Ritza Millie, who had box four, was badly hampered by a wide runner as she entered the straight the first time around and dropped out.

"She likes to get things her own way so this race looks nearly ideal for her,'' trainer Mark Gatt said.

"At her most recent Bulli outing, Ritza Millie won easily over 590m but I believe Saturday's shorter race suits her even more.

"From box one Ritza Millie should be able to jump and lead and she is always hard to run down when she is on the bunny.''

Club Double clocked near record time of 22.22sec in his seven lengths winning romp over 400m at Bulli on Monday and trainer Neil Staines believes Saturday night's 472m trip in the Ladbrokes Back Yourself Stakes is in his dog's favour.

"The 472m will definitely suit him better than 400m but my only worry is Club Double's box eight draw,'' Staines said.

"He had box one on Monday and although he won from box seven over 400m at Bulli on August 22, he wanted to come across to the rails soon after the start.

"His task had been made easier in that race because boxes five and six were vacant, so Club Double had room to move.

"From box eight he will need to nail the start.''

Staines also has a big opinion of Jasper Beardly, who has box seven in the 515m Dukes Ladbrokes Previews Stakes.

Jasper Beardly led throughout to win by six lengths in a slick 28.99sec over the Bulli 515m trip on Monday, but he has gone from box one to a wide alley.

"Jasper Beardly is more mature than Club Double and if he comes out cleanly he will run straight from the boxes to the first turn, he won't want to run across sharply,'' Staines said.

There is little between brothers and kennelmates Fantastic Yankee and Fantastic Axel in Saturday night's Ladbrokes Cash In Maiden Final, but the draw favours the former.

In the heats Fantastic Yankee was last away but showed dazzling speed to lead at the first turn before winning by a length in 26.64sec.

His littermate Fantastic Axel also missed the jump and he too pounced on the lead at the first corner before scoring by three lengths and covering the 472m in 26.67.

In the final Fantastic Axel has drawn box five while Fantastic Yankee looks poised to get a better run down the outside of the field, after coming up with box seven.
