The Secret is out ... wide, and suited there

By Jeff Collerson

Secret Of Ours ran out and collided at the first turn before finishing fourth at Wentworth Park on Saturday night and should relish his outside draw in tonight's Ladbrokes Info Hub Stakes at headquarters.

Secret Of Ours had box one on Saturday but failed to handle the inside alley and lost his momentum by veering wide on the corner, eventually finishing fourth to Hello Robbo.

Previously the Darren Sultana-trained Secret Of Ours had shown a preference for outside draws, having won four of his eight races from boxes five, six, seven and eight.

Rema's Amber finished fourth to Eleanor Rascal over 618m at Richmond at her most recent start but trainer Eddie Foyle believes she is capable of turning the tables over the longer 720m trip in race eight tonight.

Eleanor Rascal will be favourite on the strength of her comfortable Richmond win but while trainer Syd Swain has long considered his greyhound has staying potential, she has not been tried beyond a middle distance trip.

Rema's Amber finished fourth in a tougher 720m event at her most recent Wentworth Park race on June 16 and Foyle is delighted with her box one draw tonight.

Rema's Amber has won three of her four races while wearing the red rug.

"She loves to rail and from box one can get to an early lead and then they will have to catch her,'' Foyle said.

"Rema's Amber is definitely better suited over 720m at Wentworth Park than she was over 618m at Richmond but when she finished fourth to Eleanor Rascal she was coming home strongly at the finish.

"In her two Wenty 720m races Rema's Amber has tended to lose ground going around the second bend but then picking up the pace again soon after.''

Salt Ash (Port Stephens) trainer Stephen Davies has bright prospects of landing a winning double at Wentworth Park tonight with Knocker Elly (race five) and Zipping Biddy (race seven).

Knocker Elly was having her first start for Davies when she led all the way to win a heat of tonight's race, the LADBROKES GARDENS To Wenty series, on July 13.

"The only thing against Knocker Elly is that she has never seen Wentworth Park,'' Davies said.

"But I don't think that will be a problem because she has such good speed from the boxes.

"Dogs which are slow early tend to need a look at a track before a race but it is not so vital for front-runners like Knocker Elly.

"She is quite promising because she has had five wins and nine placings from 21 starts and does not turn two until next month.''

Davies will also be represented by Zipping Biddy in race seven, the 720m Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes.

Zipping Biddy has had a win and two seconds from her past four 600m starts, all at LADBROKES GARDENS, but her form in those races has Davies believing she will see out tonight's tough 720m journey.

"I worked for 22 years for leading Newcastle thoroughbred trainer Max Lees and another five years for his son Kris and in that time I reckon I have learned to identify stayers,'' Davies said.

"Zipping Buddy is a dour type of greyhound, she goes at the one pace all through her races.

"She tends to begin well and then hits a flat spot in the middle stages of her 600m races before coming home strongly again at the finish.

"To me that's a sign of a stayer.''

Tonight's best bet should be provincial speedster Cosmic Blend, who had won six of 12 out-of-town races before an unlucky third on debut at Wentworth Park last Saturday night.

Cosmic Blend has box three in race three, a 520m fifth grade.
