Champion Model, winner of last year's Canberra and Goulburn Cups double, has the draw needed to register her 19th win in Saturday night's fifth race, a 520m fourth and fifth grade, at Wentworth Park.
The JODIE Lord-trained greyhound, who has box one, has an imposing record wearing the red rug, winning four of her six starts.
Considering she led throughout to win a Free-For-All at Wentworth Park at her most recent race on June 27, Champion Model seems well placed in Saturday's easier event.
"She had a couple of seasonal conditions which held her back a little but she is close to her absolute peak again now,'' trainer JODIE Lord said.
"Champion Model certainly looks well positioned drawn on the rails in this type of race.''
Rita's Boy, who chased Champion Model home at Wentworth Park on June 27, should be hard to beat in Saturday night's second heat of the Ladbrokes Monthly Medal Stakes, a 520m Free-For-All.
"He has been a good old dog and seems to be getting better with age,'' trainer Mark Gatt said of Rita's Boy, who turned three last month.
"His run behind Champion Model was excellent because he was hampered at the first turn.
"Saturday night's race doesn't appear to be particularly tough for a top grade event.''
Gatt also has strong claims with Ritza Millie, who has box two in race four, a 520m fifth grade.
Ritza Millie had won five of seven Wentworth Park races before failing to beat one home when a $3 chance at headquarters last Saturday night.
Ritza Millie had box two last week but lost all chance at the start when the greyhound in box one veered out and collided heavily with her.
"The dog drawn on her left did a right hand turn when the boxes lifted last week and that put Ritza Millie out of play,'' trainer Mark Gatt said.
"She is well boxed near the rails on Saturday but my only concern is that the dog in box three, Rip Masters, usually shows good early pace.
"Ritza Millie does not like being pressured on her outside so I hope Rip Masters doesn't crowd her in the run to the first turn.''
Londonderry hobby trainer Jody Gordon could land a winning double on Saturday with litter brothers Rostered On and Curtain Call.
Rostered On has drawn box one in heat one of the Ladbrokes Monthly Medal while Curtain Call has the same draw in race eight, a 520m fourth grade.
Last Saturday at Wentworth Park Rostered On was a luckless third to Modus Operandi in the fastest time of the night after exiting box eight.
He has good early pace and with moderate beginner Big Gora in box two and wide runner Rohan Hill in three, Rostered On should be the pacemaker around the crucial first bend.
Rostered On had beaten Curtain Call in a trial at Wentworth Park four nights before last week's race yet Curtain Call came out and led throughout on Saturday.
Curtain Call had box six but jumped smartly and after easily clearing his rivals, came away to win easily in 30.17sec, matching his previous best Wentworth Park 520m time.
Curtain Call and Rostered On are members of Gordon's wonderfully successful litter whelped by brood bitch Subway To Venus in December, 2015.
They have won 16 races between them while their siblings Fast Car Driving and Rhythm Section have also won 16 races for Gordon.
