Sibling Of Staying Superstars On Show At Wenty

By Jeff Collerson

Alotta Talk, a litter brother to Australia's best long-distance greyhounds Tornado Tears and Rippin' Sam, is set to make his mark as a stayer at Wentworth Park Wednesday.

A new addition to the kennels of Dean Swain, winner of the 2016 Sydney trainers' premiership, Alotta Talk has box one in race three, the 720m Duke's Ladbrokes Previews Stakes.

Alotta Talk is undefeated in three starts from the rails box and Swain is confident the greyhound will win on Wednesday.

"He was desperately unlucky when second, beaten just under four lengths, at his first Wenty outing last Wednesday,'' Swain said.

"Alotta Talk was hampered for most of the race as he attempted to get around one of his rivals and he must have been giving the winner around 15 lengths' start at one stage.

"He got to the line really well because he is a natural stayer, I think he will develop into a top notch long-distance performer.

"Before he raced for the first time last week at Wenty I gave Alotta Talk a 520m trial there and he clocked 29.85, time good enough to win many top grade sprints.

"But it was his blistering run home time of 11.60 which really impressed me.''

Benkennie Chic is another greyhound set to make full use of box one at on Wednesday's meeting.

The Peter Mantach-trained greyhound will carry the red rug in race nine, the 520m Ladbrokes Info Hub Stakes.

Benkennie Chic has won one of her two starts from box one and was far from disgraced when second, beaten 11 lengths, in a far harder 520m race at Wentworth Park last Saturday.

She began cleanly from her unsuitable box seven draw but was hampered crossing to the rails and lost several lengths.

Benkennie Chic came from a distant fourth on the back straight to chase home crack speedster Black Forge, who covered the 520m in a brilliant 29.89.

Successful trainer Jodie Lord could land a winning treble on Wednesday with Winlock Huddy, who has box one in race five, Winlock Banking (box three, race seven) and Rohan Hill (box one, race eight).

Winlock Huddy was a finalist in last Saturday night's Group 1 Ladbrokes Peter Mosman Classic at Wentworth Park and will relish the huge drop in class to on Wednesday's fifth grade event.

Winlock Banking led throughout to easily win a grade five at Wentworth Park last Saturday and meets similar opposition in identical class again.

Rohan Hill is in the best form of his career, having scored five wins and two placings from his past seven outings, enhancing his already imposing record of 24 wins and 18 placings from 63 appearances.

Rohan Hill is one of three runners Lord has in race eight, a 520m top grade affair, with her other starters being Asa Barboza (box three) and Champion Model (box eight).

But the draw favours Rohan Hill, especially as the well-performed Champion Model has not won from the outside draw and would be better positioned drawn closer to the rails.

Volt To Excel has not raced at Wentworth Park but the Allen Williams-trained greyhound is capable of winning first-up after drawing box one in race four, a 520m fifth grade.

"She has had a couple of trials at Wenty so she knows her way around the course,'' Williams said.

"While Volt To Excel did not set the world on fire in those hit-outs, she went well enough to suggest she will be hard to beat in this race, especially from the rails draw.

"Volt To Excel has had a couple of little injury concerns but is 100 per cent now and went very well when she won at Dapto two starts back, when she was resuming from a spell.''
