State Of Origin Squads Announced

By Thedogs.com.au

With the State of Origin Series’ opener done and won, NSW have now today named a strong squad for the fourth Origin clash of 2018 - the inaugural Origin Greyhound Series, to be held at Albion Park on July 12.

The unique series will see greyhounds from NSW and Queensland pitted against another in a sprint race over 520m, a distance event over 710m, and then a two dog match race (520m), to ultimately decide – just like rugby league - which State has bragging rights for the next 12 months.

The two teams each have celebrity coaches, both who have experience what the cauldron of Origin is all about – Chris Walker for Queensland and Terry Hill for the Blues – and the pair were on hand today to make the squad announcements.

Each State had a panel of four expert selectors who have nominated squads of 25 greyhounds. The finals teams will be announced in early July.

The NSW team is spearheaded by sprinter Miss Splendamiro, the recent Ladies Bracelet winner, and stayer Ebby Ripper, who won the Ladbrokes Gold Cup last month at Wentworth Park, while the pick of the Queenslanders at this stage looks to be Slick in the sprint, and Champagne Sally over the longer trip.
