Little Digger gave top notchers Blazin' Carter and El Magnifico a start and a beating in last Saturday night's top grade sprint and has an even better draw in Saturday night's 520m Free For All.
The Ray Smith-trained Little Digger had box three last week but not only does he have box one on Saturday, he has the "luxury" of having the wide running Poppa Ogg next to him in box two.
"Little Digger has certainly been 'crying out' for box one,'' trainer Smith said.
"He pulled up well after his win last week and has plenty going for him this time.''
Smith will rug up three of the six runners in Saturday night's 720m WP On Facebook Stakes, and expects favourite Irinka Leanne to win.
Irinka Leanne scored her third win in three Wentworth Park long-distance races last Saturday and while she had box eight in that event, Smith is happy to see her in box two on Saturday.
"Her kennelmate Midnight Jayne should roll forward towards the lead from box one and is likely to give Irinka Leanne a good trail along the fence,'' Smith said.
"Midnight Jayne is promising but will probably need the experience of this first staying race at Wentworth Park and Irinka Hamo, Irinka Leanne's brother, might finish ahead of her.
"But I expect Irinka Leanne to win.''
Trainer Peter Rodgers believes finally drawing an inside box could put On The Trowel back in the winner's circle in race four, a 520m fifth grade.
On The Trowel has box two and should only need to run up to several recent fast trials at Wentworth Park to win.
"This dog has drawn box four or box six in each of his past six races yet is desperate for an inside alley,'' trainer Rodgers said.
"He has been flying in post-to-post hand-slips I have given him lately, including one where he clocked 24.12 and ran home in a scorching 11.65.
"On The Trowel can probably only run around 5.50 or 5.55 for his first split but after that he can really get along providing he gets a clear run.''
Kel Lean, who raced the former champion Keybow, has a strong chance of landing a winning double on Saturday with Audi Key, who has box eight in race seven, a 520m third and fourth grade, and with Keysile, who has drawn the rails in race nine, a 520m fifth grade.
Lean part-owns and trains Audi Key while he and Lindsay Davis own Keysile, who is trained by Andrew Mulrine.
Audi Key ran the race of his life when second to Ritza Lenny at his most recent Wentworth Park outing on April 28, stopping the clock at 29.68, easily his personal best time at headquarters.
"He has always had a big motor because he went within a tick of the track record at Taree when he won his first race, and box eight is good for him too,'' Lean said.
"Keysile was having her first look at Wenty when she made the pace before finishing third to Beat The Bank last Saturday so should be improved by the run.
"She has very good early speed and I think the only reason she got run down last week was because the heavy track pulled her up.''
Northern Rivers trainer Dean Turley rates Twin Galaxy, who has box three in race three, a 520m fifth grade, as the best chance of his five starters at Wentworth Park on Saturday.
"Twin Galaxy knows her way around Wentworth Park and is suitably positioned drawn close to the fence,'' Turley said.
"Two of my other dogs, Sonic Thunder and Air Time, who have boxes six and seven in race seven, have plenty of ability but are boxed upside down.
"Sonic Thunder is a wide runner and Air Time likes to find the rails so they could bring each other unstuck.''
