Dolly Does The Deed At Dubbo

Dolly Street looks certain to depart Dubbo and race in the city sooner rather than later after showcasing her enormous potential at Dawson Park on Thursday.

Trained at Dubbo by Paul Meredith, Dolly Street recorded her fourth straight, and arguably most impressive, victory in the Ladbrokes Stakes (516m).

Never one of the best out of the boxes, Dolly Street ($3.30) was fifth heading into the first bend, but once she wound up, there was no stopping her.

She mowed down the leaders in the back straight and led the field into the home straight. She didn’t ease off at all, going on to win by six and-three-quarter lengths in the eye-catching time of 29.83 seconds.

“She’s just getting better and better, and I don’t know if she’ll be staying here much longer,” Meredith said.

“I’ll probably put her in the (Dubbo) Cup and then she might go to Sydney. That’s the plan.

“I think she’s something special. She’s always shown ability but been a bit slow to start, and over the 500 (metres) she comes home like a train and does it so easy.”

Meredith praised the dog’s race sense, and she showcased that in Thursday’s win when moving around the outside and passing the field with ease. She comes from a talented littler with brother Bekin Street having scored 12 wins in 25 starts and has contested events such as the National Sprint Championship.

Dolly Street beat home hot favourite Irinka Leanne ($1.90), trained by Raymond Smith, while Sista Grant ($9.50) was third.
