Racing Returns To Dubbo

By Nick Guthrie

A NUMBER of rising stars as well as some battlers looking for a drought-breaking win will contest the Hogs Australia Steakhouse 0-2 Wins Stakes (516m) on Friday night.

Racing returns to Dawson Park after a month-long hiatus and the Hogs Australia race shapes as one of the night’s highlights.

Leading Forbes trainer Raymond Smith will have Irinka Josh going from box one.

Smith, who trains the likes of Brad Hill Billy and Group 1 winner Big Daddy Bee, saw Irinka Josh run third at Bathurst last week while his one win came at Dubbo in late January.

The Charmaine Roberts-trained Cliff Keeping, going from box two, also has one win from four starts while Grant Miller’s Hidden Within is also lightly-raced.

Going from box six on Friday, Hidden Within has two wins and four placings from seven starts.

As well as those three, the race also features some more experienced campaigners.

Secret Top, trained by John Portelli has just two wins from 48 career starts and hasn’t enjoyed a victory since April of last year.

Danial Hoskins’ Callin has two starts in 21 starts but one of those wins came at Bathurst five starts back.

The race is one of 11 events to be contested tonight, with the first race occurring at 7.04pm
