Dubbo, Richmond, Wagga Times Altered Due To Heat

By Greyhound Racing NSW

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) advises that both the Dubbo, Richmond and Wagga Friday meetings have been altered due to extreme temperatures forecast in the area.

Dubbo has been moved earlier in the day and will now start at 9.55am Friday, January 19. Kennelling will occur between 8.25am - 9:10am with scratchings to close by Thursday 4pm.

Richmond has been moved later in the day and will now start at 7.42pm Friday, January 12. Kennelling will occur between 6.12pm - 6.57pm with scratchings to close at the normal time.

Wagga has been moved later in the day and will now start at 7.45pm Friday, January 12. Kennelling will occur between 6.15pm - 7.00pm with scratchings to close at the normal time.

Temperatures at Dubbo, Richmond and Wagga are all forecast to reach 41°C on Friday.

The safety and welfare of greyhounds is of paramount concern for GRNSW in determining whether a race meeting or individual races on a program should proceed, be delayed or abandoned in hot weather conditions.

Decisions to transfer or cancel meetings are made after careful consideration and continual monitoring of the forecast weather conditions with GRNSW also taking into account the predicted temperature for travel times to and from the venue as well as at the track.

Under GRNSW’s Hot Weather Policy, stewards may abandon a race meeting in the event the temperature rises above 38°C or is likely to rise above this temperature.

Clubs must also abandon trials where the temperature rises above 38°C or when the temperature is likely to rise above 38°C.

Participants are encouraged to regularly check the GRNSW website for any race schedule changes due to extreme heat.
