Miss Judy aims for second Wenty win

By Jeff Collerson

A slick trial over 515m at Gosford has Wild Miss Judy in the box seat to score her second Wentworth Park win on Saturday night.

The Terry Priest-trained Wild Miss Judy, who has had a win and three placings from seven Wentworth Park appearances, has box eight in race two, a 520m fifth grade.

Priest holds a strong hand in the race as he will also be represented by Wild Miss Judy's litter brother Wild Walter, another WP winner, who has box five.

"I trialled them at Gosford last week and Wild Miss Judy recorded 29.90 while her brother clocked 29.98," Priest said.

"I was happy with those times as the track was on the slow side."

"Wild Walter is a length faster than Wild Miss Judy in the early stages but she is around two lengths stronger at the end of 520 metres, and on Saturday the draw definitely favours Wild Miss Judy."

"She is perfectly positioned in box eight but Wild Walter has drawn the middle, box five.

"They  both have a chance, it just depends on where they find themselves at the first turn.

"But I lean to Judy because of the draw.''

Zipping Floyd is the form greyhound of race four, a 720m heat for winners of one to four races, but trainer Darryl Prestwidge concedes he is uncertain whether his dog will run the distance out strongly.

"He has always indicated he might be a stayer but I am as much in the dark as anyone else," Prestwidge said.

"Zipping Floyd might go strongly for 650 metres and then hit a brick wall, but hopefully he will see out the 720 metres.

"In his favour is that he is well drawn in box two, because he is such a good railer.

"At least he won't have to burn up energy finding the fence."

Zipping Floyd finished third in a 618m Richmond race at his sole middle distance test but the dog has won over the tough Bulli 590m trip in a nippy 33.98.

Milky Jones defeated group race winner Royal Turbo in a top grade Wentworth Park race on December 9 so looks well suited in Saturday's sixth event, a 520m fifth grade.

The CHRIS Carl-trained greyhound runs his best races when drawn wide so is ideally placed in box eight.

Although unplaced at his past two Wentworth Park appearances in harder class, Milky Jones came from last at the first turn to defeat Royal Turbo and subsequent Wentworth Park winners Liberty Lee and Canya Ayden in a heat of the group 3 CHRIStmas Gift three starts ago.

Milky Jones has won three races from box eight and posted his personal best WP time of 30.13 while wearing the pink rug.

Another greyhound likely to make full use of box eight on Saturday is Explosive Brown, who has drawn the outside trap in race seven, a 520m fourth grade.

Explosive Brown possesses brilliant early speed and is the quickest WP greyhound in the field, having stopped the clock at 29.97 on May 31.

When Explosive Brown recorded those dazzling figures she exited box eight and with a moderate beginner, Dyna Orenthal, drawn next to her in box seven, she should get a clear run to the crucial first turn on Saturday.
