Goulburn & Richmond Meetings Moved Due To Heat

By GRNSW

Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) advises that the Goulburn meeting on Tuesday has been moved earlier in the day due to extreme temperatures forecast in the area.

Richmond's meeting on Wednesday has been transferred to night slot also due to extreme temperatures forecast in the Richmond regions.

Temperatures at Goulburn in the mid afternoon on Tuesday are forecast to reach 39°C, while the mercury is set to hit 41°C at Richmond on Wednesday.

As a result, the first race at Goulburn will now begin at 10.14am, with kennelling closing at 9.29am.

Due to the earlier start, scratchings for Goulburn will now close at 8.15am Tuesday morning.

The first race at Richmond will begin at 7.14pm, with kennelling closing at 6.29pm.

Richmond's scratching's will close at 9:00am Wednesday morning as normal.

The safety and welfare of greyhounds is of paramount concern for GRNSW in determining whether a race meeting or individual races on a program should proceed, be delayed or abandoned in Hot weather conditions.

Decisions to transfer or cancel meetings are made after careful consideration and continual monitoring of the forecast weather conditions with GRNSW also taking into account the predicted temperature for travel times to and from the venue as well as at the track.

Under GRNSW’s Hot Weather Policy, stewards may abandon a race meeting in the event the temperature rises above 38°C or is likely to rise above this temperature.

Clubs must also abandon trials where the temperature rises above 38°C or when the temperature is likely to rise above 38°C.

Participants are encouraged to regularly check the GRNSW website for any race schedule changes due to extreme heat.
